I found my exact boat (well, this one has a V8 Mercruiser while mine has a 4cyl OMC Stringer, but still) selling for $2k out of a junk yard! I'm considering selling our boat and buying something newer, but my boat is 1000x in better condition than this!

1980 CENTURY Dawsonville GA for Sale 30534 - iboats.com

vs. my boat:

What should I ask for my boat in good working, structural & cosmetic condition??

Shocked to finally see my boat somewhere else, but sad to see it in that kind of condition :(

I wouldn't put too much faith in anything that Lanier Marine Liquidators posts. All they post is overpriced junk that never sells.

I like that all their ads now open with "Better hurry! Recycling begins in September." A month or so ago they were posting on CL that they had to sell off inventory to make room for paving their 15 acre lot. I've been there and did a lot of wow's. And not because the boats are nice. I think LML is liquidating themselves to build houses. Where did they find a fiberglass recycler?

It seems that word is spreading about their reputation.

What struck me in that posting was that in one photo the boat was sitting on a trailer, and in another photo it was laying on the ground.

I agree ... don't use Lanier as a measuring rod for price. Use the local listings.

Your's is a beauty though, I've always been a bit jealous of it. Might look around for some Century owners clubs and see if you can move it through them. Could fetch ya' a few extra bucks.

Worth is only determined by what someone will pay because they want what you have. An obsolete powertrain will bring you a very limited market. That junker they advertised ain't worth a dollar though.

Ask price and sold are two different things. They may be happy with a $2.00 offer.

The drivetrain in yours is definately going to attract very few people, a V8 Mercruiser could be worth quite a bit on it's own. I do believe they are overpriced but the drivetrain (if complete) will sell the junker.
