Re: How long at WOT?

Hey, I do a good job. I just like the feeling of the ground better. I have gone on some test flights and what not... taken my kids on flights they offer for anniversaries at work... I just don't want to have to do it every day.

Well I was just trying to see what people's comfort levels were with their machines. No right or wrong answer...

Long road to this answer: I run WOT briefly (rarely for more than 1-2 minutes).

LOL - fun ride, tho...:)

Myself - I do just a few minutes at WOT every now and again. And although I am more mindful of all the extra bits flinging about under the cowl on the 4 stroke Yammie (super-silky smoothness notwithstanding) - I never run my 2 strokes more than a few minutes at WOT either. I just find the sweet spot in the upper mid rpm range is more enjoyable to listen to for extended periods.

Like some previous posters have indicated, I agree that full open runs are good to see that everything is fine and the rig is capable of the spec max rpm and/or to "blow out the cobwebs". Otherwise I don't feel the need to wind them out beyond that. Contributing factors are my inland lake habitat and almost religious resistance to paying for more fuel than I absolutely have to. :p
