A majority of people have there brand i see. I have mine too but work on them all. The only ones I try not to work on are forces. They are the hyundai's of boat motors.... to bad theres not a 10 year waranty on them also haha.... Everyone participate>

The 3.4L are heavy, but they sure are reliable....I don't know much about the new 300's.........BushCat

I have a 1986 50 hp Johnson<br /> 1986 6 hp Evinrude<br /> 1946 2 1/2 hp Evinrude<br /><br />I keep the 2 1/2 for sentimental value--it still runs great, and has more hours on it than anyone could imagine, and would not sell it for anything.<br /><br />I have pretty much always had Johnson's or Evinrude's. The current ones are great--I've had a mix of very good or Great motors in the Johnnyrude family. Mostly all saltwater use.<br /><br />I've had two Mercs. A 50 hp and a 9.8 The only good Merc in my book is a sold Merc-to someone else--Had absolutely nothing but trouble with them. Would never own another one, ever.

Looks like I am not the only one in need of a garage sale.<br />’68 4hp. Merc: Bought used for the kids when they were young.<br />’71 5hp. Clinton: First new outboard, last with sheer pin or air-cooling<br />’92 15hp. Mariner: Always starts and runs, doesn’t like to troll for long.<br />’99 50hp. Johnson: Like this motor a lot, quiet and runs well.<br />’03 140hp. Johnson: 4 stroke. Hasn’t been in water yet. There’s still 8”<br /> of ice on the lake here.<br />I did have a ’85 30hp. Johnson. It was a bit loud, but ran well. It served me well <br />up until the late 90’s, when it proved not to be teenager proof.

’87 oars 1 manpower…favorite<br /><br />’78 Merc 7.5 hp…kind of a dog<br />’82 Johnson 140 hp…basket case since the only time I lent it out ran without oil<br />’79 Chrysler 70 hp quite dependable and powerful<br />’82 Chrysler 7.5 hp…one pull starter everytime…great motor<br />’71 Chrysler 75 hp…parts motor…saving parts for ’79 motor…been saving ‘em for 7 years now…<br />’90 Johnson 120 hp…runs great…makes lots of noise with jet pump…<br /><br />Built a couple of plywood/ fg boats as a kid and used junkyard car motors to power, motors never lasted more than a year tho…first outboard had me hooked…that was the 140 Johnson

wow, I guess I better jump in and mention what I have had or have!<br /><br />Started out 87 marinar 40 horse<br />went to a 89 Tohatsu 70 horse GREAT<br />Next 89 Nissan 25 horse GREAT<br />right now 86 VRO Evinrude 150 Hopefully good :rolleyes: <br /><br />I loved the Tohatsu and Nissan but where I live it is sure hard to find parts! Seems like everyone has more than one motor! At one point in time have they all been broken? That is why I will not own a boat with twin or triple outboards!! When one breaks they all break!!!!

1982 merc 18 decent shape <br />1977 rude 15 ran good for a while but trash now<br />1987 force 50 it was ok, but had to do some work<br />1993 force 70 was pretty good but scrap iron now <br /><br />DO NOT BUY A FORCE, other than that the rest are pretty good. i have ridden w/just about any make of motor (usually small hp) and all are dependable, but you are always going to have your lemons.
