Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

Back in my bachelor days, I used my boat nearly EVERY day during the season, as I lived on an island from May through October. Not so much anymore now that I'm a mainlander... maybe 3-4 times a month this time of year - triple that during the summer.

every week end ( except for the next 6 mo.) It takes me the winter months to pay off the gas bill from the previous year!

Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

I have used mine as much as 6 times a month sense I got it lake worthy. Lately I have some bad bearings on the trailer so I've been leaving the boat parked and been fishing with my uncle which has been about the same amount of time that I would in my own boat. At least once every weekend sometimes twice, all bass fishing of coarse.

With crappie season coming in, if I get my boat trailer fixed it will be back out there maybe 3 times a month, between my brother and my uncle we'll swap up between boats, my uncle will go out in my boat, I'll go out in my brother's boat etc etc.

Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

We were out almost every weekend from May-Sep. Plus we spent at least 1 night on the boat nearly every time we went out. If I counted right, we spent 40 days and 22 nights on the boat this summer. The longest stretch was 5 days/4 nights for Labor Day. According to my GPS we traveled 1150 miles and burned 480 gallons of gas this season.

So, do you think I get my moneys worth out of the boat?:D

We had ours out almost 30 times this season (May 1 - October 17). Had the luxury of using it always on weekdays; never on weekends. Made good use of the Minn Kota trolling motor, so didn't use much gas.

I was a newbie boater this year. Gained a lot of experience with each outing. So, just wondering, when do I graduate out of the "newbie" rank?

having a small boat and 3 connected lakes within 5 minutes of my house meant I have mine out many times a week when the weather is nice. Now thats its getting cold out I usually on get it out on Saturday mornings.

My idea of "using" the boat might be a bit different than some.
We live about 45 minutes from our boat and drive there every weekend in season (May - Sept). In addition, I try to visit every Tuesday evening from early April thru Novenber.
Having a full cabin boat allows us to stay onboard with comfort all weekend- and longer. There's a lot of weekends where we don't even leave the dock with the big boat, using it as a homebase and running around with the fishing boat and/or the SeaDoo. With the price of gas, it only makes sense because we're a LONG way from wealthy!
On the other hand, when the weather cooperates we like to take her out for a run, usually anchoring within 5 - 10 miles of the marina. The kids often follow us with the SeaDoo, for exploring and tubing (it's a 3 seater). For the past 2 years we've been able to enjoy the big boat without breaking the bank- only filling up the tanks first thing in the spring (a hefty 300 gallons!). By layup time we're just about empty, which is fine by me.
Next weekend wil be our last run of the year- heading for the winter haulout. It's been another good one.
I'm already looking forward to spring!

Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

I use mine at least 4 times each week. Saturday & Sunday, and at least 2 days during the week. The weekday outings are either me fishing for a few hours, or a sunset/evening cruise with the wife. And living in West Central FL, I don't plan on slowing down the usage, except in Jan/Feb when I plan on re-doing the floors/stringers. :(

Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

After 21 years of marriage I have negotiated fishing every other week and any 3 day weekend and my birthday.

A normal trip we leave at 5pm and get back whenever, usually 1-2 am and the 3 day weekend trips are all day

I did recently pull off 5 weeks in a row, I use my boat only to fish though and I live 20 and 35 minutes from the closest launches, although we will run to a local lake and swim now and then when the weather permits(its 43 out now)

So my answer is 2.8 times per month

Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

We went out almost every weekend this summer. I run a motocross track, and we had 8 events this year, so thats 8 weekends we didn't boat, but we had a few 3 and 4 day weekends at the lake. I put 95 more hours on the hour meter this year and we had a great time! I'm already looking forward to those 90 degree days again... :D

Re: How many time per month do you use your boat?

up to now i have been out several times a week. lost track of the number of times I spent overnight on the water. Now that artic weather is settling in the boat has been very happy on the trailer. although I do envision a few trips when the lake is thawed out. ( where is the global warming when we need it)
