How much epoxy to Buy?

Hi,

I am having a little trouble deciding which epoxy to use, how much to buy, and how to apply it on a new deck (floor) for a Starcraft SuperSport 18. I plan on using 1/2" AC Plywood and I will be installing carpet over it. Could anyone tell me...
  1. Which is your favorite epoxy? West System 105/205 seems to be a favorite, but is it appropriate for this situation?
  2. How many coats should be applied to the underside or top side of the wood?
  3. Once I determine the square footage of the wood to be covered, how much should I plan on buying per square foot (of course, I will multiply this figure based on the answer I find to the second question). I saw a table listing this information on the West Marine website once, but now I can't find it?

Thanks!

West epoxy is a good for what you want to do. I would buy the gallon size 105 for this. It is cheaper to buy in bulk and you will use most of it. Two coats per side will ensure good coverage. Consider covering the top with a light 10oz cloth. It might be a bit overkill with the carpet, but it will ensure a good seal. If you do go with the light fiberglass on the top then of course you just need one coat. That is my .02, but calling West will confirm it. By the way, West charges hazmat shipping ($25) in addition to the regular shipping for Epoxy resin. Most other sellers dont.

Thanks for the feedback. And for this note:

That is an important bit of information.

Epoxy isn't a hazmat.

USComposites is also a popular supplier for folks on here, most use the 635 with the 3:1 medium hardener. I've used it myself and was quite pleased with the product.

Epoxy :?Epoxy Resins and Hardeners

You'll also find it's a lot cheaper than the west stuff.

WestMarine (possibly shippers too) considers the hardener hazmat but not the resin. The hardener must go ground service for delivery, and it's shippable to the 48 US contiguous states ONLY. Once my cart was over $50, there was no shipping or hazmat charge shown at checkout, and I choose home delivery NOT ship to store.

I'm not sure why Auger was charged a $25 hazmat fee, he's in the lower 48, so it should have been free shipping too.

I did not click the 'Place the order' button, so the fee may have been added after the fact. The notice about the hazmat shipping indicates that WM will calculate hazmat & shipping after it confirms the ship to address when you enter it. But that's all before you confirm & place the order.
