Stripped this bolt on my AQ131A while fitting a new timing belt. This bolt holds the tensioner. I don't have a clue on how to proceed from here.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Is the bolt hole thread itself deep enough to put a longer bolt in?

what size is the bolt that has sheared, try drilling a hole in the middle and use what we call an easy out tool, you tap the easy out tool down the hole that you have just drilled and then you turn it anti CW and hopefully the broken bolt should come out, give it a spray with plus gas overnight before extraction.

1. did the threads strip inside the hole- if so go on you tube and learn how to use a helicoil thread insert.
2. if the threads have burrs preventing you from putting your bolt in use a thread chasing tap to clean them up.
3. if the bolt snaped inside the hole, drill out for a tap and use an easy-out. make sure you drill dead center and soak with pb blaster overnight.
4. if the bolt is actually a stud, use vise grips and remove stud. again use pb blaster to soak before removing

pics would help, not sure what you are dealing with.

See post #3 for why I can't post a picture. But, no problem now since I was able to get it out. I called it a bolt, but it's actually a stud that sticks out of the head on the front of the engine and which you slide the belt tensioner on to. I soaked it overnight with PB Blaster, then ran two bolts onto it and then heated it up a couple of times and out she came...after 25 years. I've been able to order a replacement stud.Thanks.
