How sensitive is the 3.0 to float height? Near stall when brought to neutral.

Anyone here have to mess with it?

Our 3.0 runs okay but when you pull it quickly back to neutral the rpm's drop momentarily to <300. It's very brief and then right back up to idle. It doesn't quite kill but you think it's going to every time. Does every one else's do this?

The float height adjustment was just a thought.

It's supposed to cut out for a brief moment when ya shift, to allow the clutch dogs to disengage. Usually can hardly hear it happen. Maybe its time to see if the lower shift cable is getting sticky.

Interesting. Would it cut out pulling back to neutral? Or only as you enter forward or reverse?

The shift interrupt switch is only supposed to stumble the engine when coming out of gear, reverse or forward going into neutral.

If the lower shift cable is bad, or something else is binding the cable, it could stumble (or kill) the engine going into gear, but it's not supposed to do that.

Yeah!

Last trip to the cabin I cleaned the carb and I didn't have the float height specs so of course I left it alone. I'm sure it's fine.

Thanks Dan and Grub!
