How to build a tiller stand?

Hey everyone

Looking to build a tiller stand, I have seen write ups on here before but now I can no longer find any of them. The one I did find was standard large obnoxious ones on wheels. I am looking for something small and when the motor is off the stand I will be able to fold it up an maybe make it smaller. Anyone have any pics or write ups on this? The stand is only holding a small 4 stroke 5hp honda. It does not matter if the stand is on wheels either, I am more looking for small and for easy storage when it is in use.

I look forward to seeing what is out there.

I was thinking of taking a 2 wheel hand truck and add a board near the top so you can mount the motor so it can stand alone.
Might need to extend the load plate little. Doesn't fold but can be tucked against the wall.

Get yourself an appropriately sized stout garbage can, with or without wheels.
Place a 2x4 over the top, and drop the motor in, and bolt her on.

No, it doesn't fold up, but is cheap, easy, and can be used as a garbage can.

Or suspend from ceiling, a 2x4 from 2, 5' lengths of swing set chain.

I was thinking about a hand truck earlier, tried it and like you said it needs a few modifications but it would and could work.

good idea on the garbage can and boar suspended from the sealing. I like the hanging it from the sealing because when im not using it it can be hung up out of the way. For some reason I am unable to see your picture but, thanks for your suggestions.

you can build stands from wood for less than $10 for small motors, and they take up less than 2 square feet of floor space. not pretty. no wheels, but light enough to easily pick up with motor attached.

I used the scraps of wood left over from a fence project to build my motor stand. currently has two 9.8's on it. Made it tall enough to work on them, yet short enough to run the motors in a bucket.

I don't have any construction details--but this one was very simple. Made with hardwood it was plenty strong enough for a small outboard. It took a little fiddling to get the angles right so it was balanced and stable. "Large obnoxious ones" are that way to accomodate a huge variety of sizes & weights.
