I would submit there is less Team racing than you think.

I have heard the WWF comparison before, but I always scoff at that as nothing in NASCAR is faked, whereas ALL of the WWF is fake. It sure looks to me like they are laying it on the line when a tiny tap sends them spinning. Maybe they fake that? ;)

And when they go head on into the wall at 200mph, that's fake too......

But it it's not no restrictions, full on racing that's driving the machine and the driver to the limits either.
You realize there has to be rules governing how the cars are built, right? And then the owners and crew chiefs do EVERYTHING they can to build a car that maxes out every piece of the machine within those rules, right? If you answer yes to those two questions then they are absolutely building the fastest machine they can.

And then, you think the drivers don't go full out? Why wouldn't they? We are talking HUGE money, and that's not to mention simple ego and competitive spirit stuff. You must think this is all scripted, and that all of these owners and drivers are simply acting. You can't have it both ways. You can't say it is not "fake" and then say they don't try hard. Weird.

Watch this clip and tell me these two drivers are not "full on racing" and "driving the machine and the driver to the limits" . . . There are other examples, but most say this was the best finish of 2012. The last lap is the focus. And yes, a road course for those who don't think they know how to turn right. BTW, that is the eventual 2012 Champion, Brad Keselowski, that finishes 2nd. His post race interview is worth looking for all by itself. I decided that he was the real deal, after that interview. He had nothing but compliments for Ambrose after. Yes, I know there was oil on the track. So what? They duked it out "to the limits" of their machines, themselves, and the track ;)

Just a thought, I just looked up the winning times for the last five years and there is less than one second between winning and the next car. In four of those years there was less than one second difference in the top four cars. That is after hundreds of miles of "racing".
Funny, but to most fans, that's a good thing. And you really can't be that close unless the previous 499 miles went well too ;) All good, not for everyone, just like the stupid NFL  :p

How many races must one watch to qualify as 'experienced'? I've been watching since they raced on the beach, and there still aren't many races that can equal the excitement of Daytona in February. And none of 'em need 3/4 of the track to fit the field in ...

How about they put some "stock" back into stock car racing. Remember the "old days" when the cars had the actual production body, Hell - Even had wipers. I recently saw a Petty car in a mag that had a license plate & tail lights.
