New to forum. Have 2004 1850 fishhawk with 150 suzuki outboard. I am replacing the stock depth finder with a new lowrance GPS/Sonar combo and I was wondering if there is a HOW TO or anything for getting the wiring to the back of the boat for the skimmer transducer? Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks

Thanks for the prompt response. I guess I was looking for someone that had experience doing it themselves that could give some insight. Boat manual and website arent much help. I've already spent a lot of time searching.

Is the old transducer wiring still in the boat? If so, tie a cord to the display end and pull the old cable out. Tie the new cable onto the cord and reverse the process; or am I answering a different question?

that would work as long as there arent any zip ties or any snags along the way. im just wondering how(if possible) to access the wires between the console and transom?

Like Burroak said, if the old transducer cable is still in the cable chase tie a strudy string to the free end and pull the transducer cable out the back. I've done it a gazillion times and is never a problem. If you think about it, how would anyone get into the chase to put zip-ties on? When the get the string through, tie it to the new cable and pull it through. DO NOT tie the string to the plug. Wrap the string around the cable about six inches back from the plug and then wrap that six inches with electricians tape. This will allow pulling on the cable rather than the plug. Wrap the tape a little past the plug so you form a tapered leading edge so the plug doesn't snag on anything.

If it's zip tied, the old cable isn't coming out. Use a electricians fish tape to snake (I know I'm mixing metaphors:D) the new cable through. Refer to Silvertip post for securing cable.
