We've got an Xbox 360 with a network connection - it used to be that you had to pay a fee w/ it for Netflix? Son is bugging me a bout it, and i can't find any hard details. Would be great to have movies streamed directly on our big TV and I've got the CD/mail plan now.

Netflix killed off their old CD/streaming subscriptions , splitting their services into two separate packages, each with their own subscription rate.

It is a pain as some movies are only available in one format and if you have the other plan you are SOL.

We have the streaming used thru G'sons Wii, he uses it regularly.

Roscoe is right. Log onto your Netfix account via the web and sign up for streaming service. It will walk you through setting it up with your X-Box. We have it and use an X-Box, Wii, Roku box and Vizio DVD player in different rooms to stream movies. You can also stream movies on your computer. My wife had it setup to stream on her smart phone through our account at no extra charge also. A little heads up though. Much of what is available through streaming is not all that great. Most of their newer stuff is only available on DVD at first. Recently they lost a bunch of Star's movies because they didn't want to pay for them.

We use Netflix streaming service regularly through our kids Wii, iPad, iPhone and Ipod touch. Apple make either an RCA or Component adapter, which works quite well (not High Definition) There's also an HDMI connector available, but it's still not High Definition.

Through the Wii, it's a component connection, again, not High Definition.

If you have an X-Box, I believe you can stream HD and with a Playstation it is also HD...

This is all predicated on the strength/quality of your Wi-Fi signal. If you have broadband, you should be able to stream HD. If you have DSL, then probably not, unless, it's the Fiber Optic or high-speed DSL.

What awesome about Netflix is as long as you have a 3g and/or 4g connection on your smartphone, you can watch it anywhere; furthermore, if you have a smartphone to TV adapter, you can watch them on any TV. We regularly connect my iPhone to the camper TV when camping, so the kids can watch movies and TV shows. Depending on signal strength but it's usually a really clear picture!

Netflix is not the be all/end all of movies, while I think it has a good amount of older movies, I think their TV series collection is awesome and it allows me to watch whole seasons back to back, w/o commercials. A lot of Discovery, History Channel, HBO, Showtime programming, etc...

For $7.99/month, it's easily cheap entertainment and when I work I take the iPad, find a wireless connection (readily available) and watch movies/TV shows between calls!

We've got netflix streaming on a bunch of different devices throughout the house. The bummer about getting Netflix through xbox is you first need to buy an xbox live subscription which varys in pricing depending on how you buy the membership then you can access Netflix via your $8.00/month streaming subscription. In otherwords Microsoft requires a whole additional layer of fees to get to Netflix whereas Netflix access requires no such fee with all of our other devices.

Yeah, I thought I needed to get the $50 a yr subscription, sounds like the CD plan I have is better for movies.

We used to watch Netflix through our Wii but now we have a smart TV. It has built-in wi-fi which makes it real convenient to watch Netflix now. It wasn't much more $ either. No un-hooking the Wii to play in the other room anymore :)

Re: how to stream netflix to tv?

I have NetFlix and watch thru a PS3 (no other $$$...8.00 a month), but it was a pain to move it from room to room. I also watch thru the computer, which is fine because we have a 24" monitor. The best idea I came up with was thru the laptop/WiFi. Ran a monitor cable from the input on the TV and hook it into the output of the laptop. Watch via WiFi over the bigscreen!

Roku streaming box is only $50, one time fee, wireless connection to your router.

Then you also get the Roku programming, much of which is free.

Re: how to stream netflix to tv?

We've been streaming Netflix for a couple of years now through the Wii and i agree totally with Baja. There's some great tv series stuff we've discovered and since my wife is a documentary kook it's been great for her.

Not sure if this is an issue for you US based folks but some Canadian subcribers have data transfer caps - me included. After particularly heavy usage i was starting to incur overage fees for blasting past my subsription capacity. Usually on the order of $15 or so.

Actually i got an email from Netflix saying they realized it was an issue for some Canadian customers and so were downsampling the signal. It's helped with the bandwidth limit but the already ordinary picture is now what i would call barely satisfactory for watching on the big screen. Still, for the price, I'm ok with it.

You can log into your Netflix account and adjust your bandwidth. Quality is great on the second highest setting....
