They'll do the job.

Put a nail in the positive clip of the test light. Presto - you have a probe.

Re: How to test stern lights

Just to verify i can poke holes onto the wires so i can get a read on the multimeter?

Re: How to test stern lights

NO, check the terminals in the socket, the wires are soldered directly to the terminals.

Re: How to test stern lights

Alright so i have about 85 percent of the diagram done. My wiring is all over the place. For a example my bilige pump is in the back and the wiring comes up to the center console and splits, one wire going to switch, other to pos of battery and another to neg of battery. But that switch also has two other wires connected to it. One goes to pos of the fuse panel and another goes to another switch. Does this sound right?

Re: How to test stern lights

Yes, that is how bilge pumps are wired sometimes. Just copy it all down and not where the wires meet together. Be sure to put down wire color. Might want to post a picture of the whole boat interior so we can see how it's layed out.
Also look at your motor, you said in another thread it was a 130 4 stroke, but Yam didn't have a 130 4 stroke in 02.

On your next post about the wiring diagram, start a new thread of it's own. You have some of the info hear and some in the LED thread, kind of hard to keep track of when you reply to a subject from one thread in another.

Yes, it's auto, if it works.

Re: How to test stern lights

It's a 2003 yamaha 130. So is there another device that is hooked up to the bilge pump?

Re: How to test stern lights

That pump has a float switch built in.
