Re: How to topple the USA without firing a shot
Assuming all that some believe about GW is true, what should we do?
What assurances do we have of complicity by the rest of the world. Who will monitor? The UN? If you think the UN (oil for food with a mass murderer) can do anything, here's your sign. And even if we get a 100% buy-in do you really think that Johnny sixpack riding his bike to the store is going to change the situation? Do you think putting solar panels on the roof of every house will change anything? If you want to look at a reasonable response you have to look at population controls. Fixed number of resources divided by an unlimited number of consumers. Nothing suggested or referenced will amount to a hill of beans. And you would have to be a crack addict to believe that China, Russia, even Mexico is going to comply with any conditions of the Koyoto accord that inconveniences them even slightly. Toss in India, Pakistan, and SE Asia and you are asking for a monumental change for some with zero benefits other than the superficial.
If this is to change, technology will drive it. Some renewable, clean, and portable source of energy will have to be uncovered. An extra 5 mpg on an SUV in Red Wing MN means nothing. Zip Zero Nada. Right now that technology doesn't exist. So all suggestions as to the surrendering of personal rights in a show of support won't amount to anything. It would be as if we should all buy into the concept that the sun isn't going to rise tommorrow and we should live our lives as if it were true. Don't you feel better doing your part in this charade?
Creativity and innovation cannot be driven by political forces. Just take a look at the VA hospitals.
With all this said, I don't buy it for a minute.
