Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Seems to me that Oops! over engineered himself into a bit of a pickle! :D

Almost seems to me that the easiest thing to do would have been to wait to completely glass in the transom until after the drive had been fit?

hey kid.....good eye......ill get some more shots of that lake......

national geographic has that lake ranked as the third most beauteful lake in the world.....its name means "lake of many colors".....and let me tell you....it is chrystal clear water and bathtub warm......the beats the big lake (okanagan) by far......even tho the highway drives right by it for about 20 miles......it is still a locals secret. as all the tourists use the big lake.

ok....update comin !

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

here is another way to have aproached the transom cut out but it requires a source for special router bits and making a template guide for the cut out.

And i understand the depth you are cutting here. with either a top bearing router bit or a template bushing for the router ( its an insert that fits in the router) you could cut the whole within about a 1/4 inch with sawsall or just about anything then cut in exact with the router only haveing to clean up the sharp corners ( after all router bits are round and dont cut sharp angles).
As to how to hold the templat in place, 3m double sided tape will hold just fine.

Just my two cents worth

It can be. Right now it is AWEFUL, can't even see to the other side of the lake due to forest fires that are burning here. Extreme smoke, can't even see the sun. The fires have been burning for the last 2.5 weeks and they still can't put them out. Will try and get some pix later.

Have a great day

Rob.

Thats the lake. It is that bright green color water that they have around cancun. The smoke had cleared up since oops! birthday and it was nice again. Saturday the winds kicked up again and the fire jumped all the firegaurds they had cut and is now fully out of control again. Smoked out again.

but this is really cool.......noklu has started to polish the old windiw frame on the boat....i am going to extend the wing windows...but the main frame will remain stock.....no klu thought it needed a little polishing....

he used rouge and a drill buffer.

randomsummerpicsandfire018.jpg

this is the buffer...its kinda worn....lol

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

and just another quick up date for ya all......

mrs oops and i hit the boat with some marine enamel paint the other night.....we useed the roll and tip method.....it was soo hot in the shop the paint was drying in less than 3 minits.....that means the finish in the first coat looks like a dogs breakfast.....

i talked to the paint store...and they said what i allready knew.....400 grit wet sand.....ARRRGGGHH......

but i allready knew that from the time we were laying it on....ill have those pics on tonight....and hopefully the sanding pics as well.....

after the paint is on.....

the rest is easy....just assembly......the cap must be screwed down...(i dont have the rub rail yet, so im just going to add a bolt thru the cap hull joint every foot or so....(less to remove later).

then the wiring of the new bow lights, back to the switch panel.
place the gas tank in and connect....

install helm and wheel......drill out the gauge holes and install......hook up the electrical.....install motor and drive.....test hull !....

it all sounds so remarkably simple....lol....

ok....gotta run to vernon to get a tower i have to install today on a guys boat, and do some minor gell repair..... ill get some overall shots of kalamalka lake for ya so you can see this lake.....its stunning just driving by it...

cheers

QUIET.

Last time I went to that lake I got turned back as the launch was full.

Course it was a Sunday when the fires were burning and people were staying of OK.

But don't tell people about it

Geez.

Don't worry Ward, by now, we all know when it comes to you what simple really means. You'll make it by first frost at the latest, we'll get some pictures and video and all be happy for a while. Then you'll have all winter to really spiff it up with all the bells and whistles...perfecting everything down to the stainless screws holding the rub rail on...;)

baaaa haaa haaa

mike....you know you are right......

robj came to the shop today......he looked at the boat...the motor... and said.....you are still a long way away......:(.......ive found since ive known him.....he has a simple way of telling the truth......and is 99.9 percent correct all the freekin time......lol

im going to push hard over the next few weeks to have the hull in the water under its own power, and test it.....but due to lack of cash right now....i dont see the theme paint or the uph going in this season....winter very possibly....but not before the end of sept unless a miracle happens.

oh well, this thread needs a upholstery tutorial from a nub any how....lol

Geez.

i was at city hall a year or two ago applying for a busniess licence .....an investor was looking in to the big lake....i said "heck no....go to kal....its the undiscovered country".....i was immeadately (and sharply) "hushed"...by the people working the desk at city hall...

by the way.....we just about lost it the other day when a fire broke out at cold stream.......the fire fighters doused it fast...like really fast......we must have a few provincial goverment people with homes there.

No.

Different lake altogether.

Stump, wasn't it?????

i took pics of it today.....but it had white caps and there was lots of smoke so the pics didnt do it justice.....im dropping the boat off (that i did the tower on today) in the morning....so ill try to get you guys those pics...including the channel.....

oh.....and gord knows.....there aint no fish in that lake......he just washes his tackel there............lol
