bought the boat of my dreams last weekend after much searching and a few rabbit trails looking at old Lone Stars....1964 Starchief I/O with the original 120hp Murk-cruiser. nearly all original, was the MacGregor sailboat dealer's personal boat, tons of nice little touches like fuel flow computer and automatic halon fire system in engine bay, all very professionally done. flloors are all good and transom has already been replaced.
i love every inch of its non-stylish, non-curvaceous, lots o screws to tighten, teak lined butt.

where else would you find a cabin cruiser that you can tow with a VW camper? paid $1600 but it's been sitting for years so i have lots of work to do on it....expect it will be 2500-3000 before it's seaworthy. engine may be seized, in which case i will probably find a 140hp drivetrain from a title-less Craigslist boat rather than deal with those dreaded letters "NLA". i do my fishing in the Sea of Cortez off sonora, Mexico (no coast guard or vessel tow) so it needs to be 100% reliable. i'm sure i will have lots of Qs for the board as the work progresses. will post pix once i downsize em. jonesing now, though, as i can't start working on it til i get new trlr tires and get it home from Albuquerque....
