hey went to lake today. i have found 2 problems beleave it or not. i meet this guy at the dock who was pulling his boat out "bullet race / bass boat" and began to chit chat with him. i told him i was there to get some results for u on iboat forum. he said great and ask me if i needed some help. not knowing what i was really looking for i told him sure thinking maybe he could help with your test sheet questions.
after clearing the no wake zone i gunned the throttle and immediattly he said woh woh woh so i stopped the boat he said do u mind if i give the driver seat a try i said sure. he gunned it to WOT 1st thing then let right out of it and said the first thing i have wrong is a slipping prop. so we went back to dock and we pulled prop he marked it with a sharpie and we went back out and gunned it to WOT and right back in. we pulled the prop and it was spun on the hub.. (sending the ballistic 23 pitch ss to prop shop monday for new hub)
then we put on the solas 21 alum... and just after the bouy he gunned it and it jummed right out on plane. he ran it for about 60 seconds and slowed the boat to 1/2 throttle. we returned to dock and he said 1st thing i should get is a new tach as mine was way off.
he said bout should run 50 with prop fixed and a tach so i could get the rpms to 4800 he said he did not think the boat was turning 5500 but hard to tell with bad prop and tach.
will drop u a line in a few weeks as i get this fixed

Joey, this was my private message to you.

Joey, if the numbers you gave me are correct, they make no sense. You either have a tach that is wrong or you have a prop that has a hub that is slipping.

Here are my numbers and a chart to show you what I mean.

It is just hard to imagine you had BOTH problems.

I am very glad to hear you are on the right track at last.

Well the slipping prop did occur to me, but the reason I didn't get on it was that I found it hard to believe that once it started slipping, it slipped at the same rate consistently, at least per what I gleaned out of you.

If it is in fact slipping, then all bets are off with what I told you in your PM. You need some hard data before you move on to another prop.

Re: hwsiii - turkk9

got the new tach on today after church and had to run new wire all the way back to motor. but even the idle rpm was off nearly 400 rpm and it is revin up slower on the rpm guage now. the old guage was movin pritty fast on rev up. looking forward to getting my prop back from shop. will let u guys know what the results are as soon as i can
thank a million joey

Re: hwsiii - turkk9

My engine idles at a specified 675 rpm. 400 rpm off on a 675 idle speed is pushing 100% error. How do you expect us to make intelligent (semi-intelligent) decisions who knows how far from your boat with input data like that????"?"?
