After I rub out my boat this spring I need to paint the bottom , I was thinking I would use Hydracoat do you have this on your boat and how is it, or should I be looking at some other brand.
Its been painted before with some kind of ablative paint, its worn away I dont know what. I just bought the boat in the fall. I was thinking I could just sand the bottom to rough it up and paint over it. What the differance between hydracoat and vivid besides the vivid has bright colors. My boat will be in the water 6 months too in fresh water Lake St. Clair in Mi.
Since you are boating in fresh water, it likely makes no difference what AF paint you choose. Go ablative, but why not the cheapest one?
Since I boat in salt water, and use disposable brushes and rollers when I apply AF paint, I have no real interest in water-based AF paint. I use the ablative AF paint with the most copper, for the $$.
From what I have read hydracoat coat is what searay uses on there boats. I was thinking of using VC17 but I dont want to strip the paint off the boat
(Quote) you can hydracoat in gallon cans, cheapest I have found is $118 a gallonFrom what I have read hydracoat coat is what searay uses on there boats. I was thinking of using VC17 but I dont want to strip the paint off the boat
I am going to get hydracoat its 118 a gallon online. I was thinking about VC17 till I learned I had to strip all the old paint off first.
You will probably need just one gal.
