Very rarely (if ever) is there going to be 1 prop that will fit every boat w/ a given motor for every buyer.
I don't know about every motor, but certainly almost all motors can use a variety of props in different pitches & diameters.
A fully loaded 1969 Chieftain w/ a 140 used primarily for long range cruising might use 1 prop/setup, while the same boat lightly loaded for a day of fishing/trolling would be more effective w/ a different prop. And then you add choices for stainless vs aluminum and 3 blade vs 4 blade & the list of available props only get longer.
A fully loaded Chieftain w/ a 140 probably isn't going to have the best hole shot from idle no matter what prop you put on it. Use a prop calculator to help you pick a range of props that will work w/ your boat, the 140 and how you plan to use the boat. Pick based on primary use, then if necessary, buy a 2nd prop that's better for a different use and keep it as your spare. And for most boater's its wise to carry a spare, so might as well get a prop for the secondary use AND as a spare.
