hey truck,
nice to see you splashed it, even to test it. that whats keeps you going. Now you can think about all the things you want it to do, the idea of it helps when you got it torn apart doing a restro project. I would invest in a little in dash deth finder. Have one in my four winns, you learn to pay attention to the depth and when you might need to tilt the motor alittle or alot. You can get them for a little money and its not big and bulky like a fish finder(unless you plan to fish alot)gonna put one in the hoilday also when i redo my dash. You one up on me, my took on water when had it out, but hey that just keeps you on your toes lol. I still like the i/0 config over the outboard:D
wiring job looks great, its clean and hidden. that is what counts :)

Re: I got a (new)question for you Starcraft guys

Ya no T&T, and its got me itching get this dependable for use so I can get back to the bigger boat. Get it done and sort through all these ideas I'd like to do to this one. :D

You have to understand that the Des Moines River is more of a good creek in most spots than a river. It averages about 3-4ft deep this time of year which is why I really don't like to run on it. But that said its 10 minutes away and one of the few spots I can go that's not no wake.

I was watching the depth on the fish finder and reading the water trying to find the channel. I had just dodged one real shallow sandbar that I saw and thought I had found the channel when I caught the next one with the skeg. Then I grounded her as I was trying to turn tail and run. In the end it was a no harm, no foul(ok slight foul). I chalked it up to lesson learned don't get complacent (or too cocky) when I know I'm shallow as thats all this stupid river is. I might of mentioned I don't like to run it.

Looks great in the water.
You don't want to suck that sand up into the motor. It'll ruin your day. Have you changed your impellar? I don't recall reading so in the thread.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes it got a new impeller a few weeks ago, looks like its still pumping good and stays cool.

Great video on the water. Did you find out if your boat is a jetstar or a jupiter?

Re: I got a (new)question for you Starcraft guys

I some how missed your post Rg.

Pretty sure its a Jetstar. Although I still have yet to figure out the difference between Jet and Jetstar. (production year maybe?) If I remember right the Jups were longer.

Little update,

My last outing on Labor Day weekend was rather disappointing due to more motor troubles. Drug it 90 miles to the lake where the new family cabin is. Took it off the trailer just to have the 50 decide it didn't want to run. Floated across the small bay as I tried to convince it to run and ended up walking it back around said bay back to the ramp to load it.

Drug it back home replaced fuel pump, drug it back down to lake (it gets to winter in the garage down there) and took it down to the boat ramp. I ran it on the trailer, starts way easier and now will idle in gear.:) I hopefully think I finally have the motor running right but it was windy and cold enough that my fair weather self decided not to take it out.

I thought of a bunch of excuses to give for that last part, but that pretty much sums it up.:p

I think it was just seating layout.

Yah, pretty sure that's it. Course, once the original seats are gone I suppose you can call it whatever ya want, eh.

Hadn't thought about that but makes sense.

Since I still have the originals and I've already recruited my seamstress (Mom) to recover them I'm in the clear. :D

I told ya just gettin back to my roots man!!!!!! LOL

Actually this thing has put a crimp in my fiberglass budget trying to sort out that stupid motor. Now that its getting cold I've got to get back to last winters workbench project and Xmas stuff in the woodshop. It'll probably be next spring before the boat budget is holding water again but I'll be back on the AC hopefully before I know it.

I even caught myself counting the months til spring earlier.

Hey TDF,

Just read through the fastest resoration thread in all of iboats history...lol:rolleyes:

No kidding, this is a restoration all right and proper like...you restored the basic function of the boat, to get out on the water and have some great fun... oh yeah and problems , too... but I guess that's all part of boatin;)

Anyhoooo, I can almost see the rational behind the allure of getting "tinned"...inexpensive boat, minimum down time, and a quick "splash"

Yeah, OK, I'll admit it, even though I have never owned a metaltinluminum-type sea craft, I may have to drink some of that koolaid y'alls servin up one day and see what effect it has...:p

It might just cause me to want to get all cut up and look into getting one of these floating metal ingots...

Hey, all jokin aside...Great Find...just what the doctor ordered...may you and your family and friends enjoy many pleasureable days out on that tinny, and may your coolers overflow with tasty fish, and may your troubles just float away...

Best regards,
GT1M

Re: I got a (new)question for you Starcraft guys

Not really by choice but I've had the Jet mothballed for long enough so this weekend I'm for sure headed to the lake.:D

While I was still in denial about the condition of the AC I bought and installed a bimini. The fit was great height wise but not width wise. So I figure no sense in letting it go to waste and uninstalled it and packed it in the truck to go with me. So the Jet's going to get a bimini and hopefully a trolling motor this weekend not to mention some use.:)

I stopped off at the local Sportsman's Warehouse by work this afternoon to do some window shopping and priced the Minn Kota Endura C2s. I've looked at the generic TM sizing chart that says #36 for a 15' boat. SO the #40 should cover me but I can't help but wonder if it'd be worth the extra $25 for the #45.

What's your thoughts spend the extra for more power or save the extra for refreshments this weekend.

Hi TDF, Glad to see this 'ol tub gettin some much deserved love...

IMHO, you can never have enough power...25 smackeroos xtra for a 45 LB. thrust sounds like a bargain to me...

It'll make fishin in those heavy currents a lot easier and prolly use a bit less battery while doin it...

Buy the generic refreshments this time out...

Have Fun!

I have either a 40 or a 45 bow mount on mine, not sure exactly. It pulls me around quite handily.

Re: I got a (new)question for you Starcraft guys

Thanks guys! Read the replies on the road, came home and scooped up a #45. I'm off to the lake for what should be a great weekend.

Here's hoping everyone has a great weekend too, if not on the water making progress towards it.:)
