I got a Yamaha electric starter on eBay (new) but it doesn't show how to connect the electrical cables

I have a 2025 Yamaha 9.9 (all manual) but wanted to get electric starter so I found this on eBay and it's semi-good except I can make it start but no make the starter "stop" after the engine is on. The other thing I'm wondering about is if it's supposed to energize the battery when it's "on". This is a trolling motor for me. The "In my Yamaha" picture shows what's been put on, partly connected, and it would start but not turn the starter off when it's on (still runs).

I hope someone can help me know how to connect the electrical properly.

Gee, The start switch should momentarily provide power to the starter solenoid. When you release the start switch, the solenoid will stop power to the starter.

Sounds like a wiring problem.

Normally the battery is connected to the one of the starter solenoid secondary windings posts. The other secondary winding post is connected to the starter.

The primary winding is connected to the start switch which is a momentary push button.

Based on the picture, I will guess the starter solenoid is a bit different than standard and connects the battery power to the start switch, thru the starter solenoid, eliminating a wire from the battery to the start switch. When you push the start button, the power is sent to the starter solenoid, which engages the secondary winding, energizing the starter.

What is the complete model identity of the motor?

If a four stroke it will start with a T or an F with some other letters that follow the 9.9.

No solenoid used on that starter motor. A starter motor relay provides battery power to the starter motor.
