I hate these new combined company shipping services

here's an idea, lets take a package that UPS or USPS would deliver in 3-4 days, and let UPS do half and let USPS do half so it takes 6-8 days to deliver it! that sounds like a great idea.
I'm not just picking on UPS, fedex does it too and it's equally terrible.

when a company uses either of these services to ship me a package it tells me they care more about saving a dollar (that I'm paying anyway) than their customers and they get no more business from me.

It's called Last Mile delivery. When you order something UPS doesn't deliver to you directly, instead it goes to your local Post Office and the PO finishes the "last mile" of delivery. The reasoning is that UPS doesn't deliver to every address in the US (P.O. boxes for example), whereas the Post Office delivers to every address in the US. I have found in my case that you don't even notice the difference and the shipping charges are the same and it doesn't cost any more. I don't know if the CA PO is part of it or if it is a US only thing.

As a note to other posters - that's why you have to watch shipping charges. If a vendor has quoted shipping on a product without even asking for an address they are usually overcharging for shipping and making more bucks off of you. When I buy online I compare bottom line not product cost. I have shopping carts with stuff in them littering up the Internet. LOL

It adds a significant delay for me. Ups doesn't deliver to my PO they deliver it to a central processing plant here in town adding a day for transfer. I live in a city not out in the sticks. 8 days for a package from NV to co.even with the holiday on Monday, which ups delivers on, that's ridiculous.

I hate it because I live in small town America, shows it has been delivered when it has not been, adds a day here.

Each has, over time, lost packages destined for The Hideout. Only UPS did a decent job of hunting it down and getting it to me when I gave them a physical address to replace the PO box.

Yeah maybe but usually those type of changes need to be made by the shipper and not the receiver. Just to be clear I'm not using a PO box. Just a normal house in Denver. Matter of fact ups had 2 packages for me. Both were in Denver Friday night. One ups delivered Monday one usps will deliver tomorrow for example.

I just wish Fed Ex green would quit driving into my driveway and throwing my packages in the bed of my pickup truck.

Last mile ticks me off.
It can add 2-5 days to delivery.
One time it sat in the post office from monday pm till Saturday morning.
If I pay for fedex, or ups, it should come from them.

BTW, I never use ups if it can be avoided.

They damage way too many packages.
They call and say they can't locate my address, even though they were here 5 times in the previous 3 weeks.
They leave $2000 signature required packages on the steps, in the rain.

i think it is ups/fedex way of trying to save the sorry a** post office.
i get packs form calif. all the time and the poorly managed post office sends it half way across Pa. just to turn around and bring it back an extra 150 miles.
which like has been mentioned adds 3 to 4 days extra delivery days

Exactly we have 3 post offices here in town and it looks like they are going to close them and ship everything to Pontiac, Mi. Which means if I mail something across town it will go to Pontiac and then back to Saginaw. Huh?

You can do that where I live. UPS is just down the road and around the corner from me. I pick stuff up a day "early" when I can't wait or DON'T WANT THEM TO LEAVE MY BRAND NEW GUITAR IN THE SNOW AGAIN!!!!!

Sounds like I'm lucky I live in a large metropolitan area. Most packages arrive within a day or two. I order a good bit parts for my custom rod shop from Washington State and the parts are typically here in two days from orders
