Re: i just brought home my first project

i agree it is a Westfield, and as far as the title says its a 68. as for the info plate its not there, but i was wondering if i was able to get one

Hey Kevin,
Seeing how MFG has been out of the boat building business for awhile, it's not likely you can get a new one. Part of the fun of owning an older boat is the "hunt" for the stuff you need :D I'm always on the lookout for cheap MFGs and or junkers. That will probably be you best bet to finding one! "welcome to the club!" :p

KWW,
maybe, ask a70eliminator if he could take a good clear picture of his info plate
you could take it to a vynal sign shop, they could make one and then you just put your numbers on it.
his a '67 yours is a '68 the only difference would be the serial number

Kevinswoodworks have you used the search feature above, there are some really informative posts with pictures and everything from transom and cap to cosmetic refinish and restoration paint jobs ect. including several of my own Westfield if you ever need reference.

Ed, how's yours comming along? last post I saw you had just finished the paint I think.
Woosterken ever take yours out on the the big Erie? I can't recall seeing any photos of your MFG?

Re: i just brought home my first project

Oh wow! so thats you, now I remeber!
That is one of the most beatifull MFG's around the forums.
Now I have the visual match up etched in my mind.
You should create an avatar with that beauty!

I used to feel just like you about Erie, I went with an experienced person one time and was hooked instantly, there were guys with little open bow tiller motor boats 3 miles out, I've been out there where you could spit in the water and it would just float there along side you all day, nobody in sight just beatiful, 2 weekends ago got hit with a sudden northeast wind and turned a flat lake into whitecap 4'ers in two minutes! but that's November for ya. even a big boat can get in trouble, you just have to pick your days and be smart.

Hi a70,
I'm still plugging along. Doing what I can, and what the weather will allow me to do. Got my motor on recently. Trying to get the ski racks done so I can get her rigged. Thought I could do the rigging without them, but the control cables run right along the racks. Thought it best to have these in first. :D

guys don't worry about the hi jacking

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for being so gracious. There is a certain etiquette that needs to be adhered to on the forums. Often we sway  and we know better!;) But, we are a loose bunch, and most folks here on the MFG site don't mind...as a70 seeze, A community we are!
