Many years ago I worked with a fellow who lived a real deadbeat life along with his daughters. Feeling sorry for them, I invited them along for a boat camping long weekend; probably their first vacation ever. Things went reasonably well until one morning when we were heading out on the lake for a shoreline picnic. As buddy got his girls (9 & 11) ready, I went down to the boat to fuel up.
My boat at that time was an open 14ft Lund SV with a 35 Evenrude. Since there were no fuel facilities on the lake, I hiked down a fuel can and proceeded to fill the tank. During the process I managed to spill a little fuel into the boat. I cleaned it up the best I could, then down the road come buddy, the cronic chain smoker, and his girls. As they got to the boat I said to him "I spilled some fuel in the boat, I have cleaned it up, and do not think there are any fumes to worry about, however I would appreciate it if you did not light up for the next little while, until I am sure that everything has aired out." At this point my pal pulls his lighter out of his pocket, thrusts it next to the fuel tank and sparks it up. I slap the lighter out of his hand and scream " What the #$%@ are you doing?" He says he is looking for any spilled fuel.
We now get involved in a huge verbal fight because I have said "@#$@#" in front of his daughters. I said "Thats right I said @#$$ in front of your daughters, and will continue to do so in front of anyone dumb enough to do what he just did". Needless to say the battle went on for at least another half hour, and most amusing of all is the language and behavior he regularly displays in front of those girls anyway; but heaven forbit at that one moment I said "$%@%". Oh yeah, alsmost forgot, we don't go boating together anymore.
