Re: i think this is sad

Anyone with income of that magnitude generally has a one, two, or more favorite charities they support very liberally, not to mention the foundations they form for the betterment of our way of life. Yes - they do it for the tax advantages but without those advantages those charities wouldn't exist. So let's not accuse them of not "giving" to society. Executives of large corporations make the money they do because they "negotiated" their salary and benefits. Anyone on this forum would not turn down that opportunity given the chance. If you don't like the deal (your job) go elsewhere and try. It's the American way. Those who work in a union environment have little to no "individual" nogotiating capability but rely on their leaders to negotiate for them and therefore have no right to grumble about salary and benefits. Labor and pay rates are a supply and demand process. If your job skills are lacking that is not the fault of industry or the executives that run it. I get real tired of people feeling they need to be taken care of cradle to grave. If you don't keep current with your current job and pay attention to where your industry is headed you may very likely end up on the outside looking in. You may have been the very best typewriter repair person but if you didn't make the transition to word processors and then computers over the years, there is a good chance you would be out of a job today (ignoring retirement or death). Failure to adapt to new technology is a good way to lose a job. And then there is always the opportunity to start your own business. You can get started for the cost of a home office and a couple hundred bucks to incorporate or become an LLC. If you think executives aren't worth the money, have at it my friends. Those who take the risks reap the rewards and by gosh they are "entitled" to them. Been there and done that.

Re: i think this is sad

Years ago my sisters friend ran a delivery service. He is a captain and supplied any crew needed. My sister used to go along and get a free ride from NY to Bahamas, Cancun, etc then fly home. He had generally steady work, but was often "on the beach" between jobs.

One trip they had the yacht on auto pilot, and did not hear the warning alarms. Apparently the captain of another yacht was not paying attention either. By the time anyone responded to the alarm, it was too late to avoid impact. Lucky for them it was only some dented metal and bent pulpit. And that is what insurance is for.

.
the top 1% should be hunted out and executed, they have gotten by with murder.
So, you're saying that because somebody achieved more in life than you through either hard work, luck or a combination..they should be killed? Could you reference me to that law?
this country was based on equality, were did it go!?
Thats right..everybody is is equally free to be as successful or unsuccessful as they choose. This country WAS NOT based on everybody having the same checking account, same sized home, same car, same life. THAT is the very reason this country is the greatest in the world. Every country has its problems, but if we ran ours like I think you would want, we would be just like Cuba. Every been there? I have and didn't see a car that was newer than 1960. Oh..but everybody is equal.
people like me lost their jobs, thier entire life savings to that way of thinking
.
Bahoolpucky...I assume you had your money in stocks, mutual funds, ect ect. If those same people you blame for loosing your money, had doubled that 1/2 million, would you be on here crying?, better yet, would you have given it all away because you were creeping closer to that "hunted down and executed territory?" Give me a break.

for me over 1/2 million gone in a day, i hate these people
.
Yea, you and thousands and thousands of others...The bubble burst because of Clintons dumb rass. Everybody should be equal to own the same home as their neighbor even though they are not educated, don't have a job and are lazy. Yea thats it..lets just give out millions of no-doc loans, no down payments and see what happens...I bought my home the right way..it wasn't out of my means and I got a smart loan...I'm a 100k underwater. Should I hate those idiots that bought unreasonable homes that they could never afford? Sure it pisses me off..but its the left that want equality for all that got us in this mess. It doesn't work, and never will..In general people are lower class for a reason, and people are middle/upper class for a reason.

i mthings picked up at good will, craigslist, ebay and were ever i can get the stuff cheap.
NO PLACE, NO FOOD was a sign an older man my age was holding once and that's my theme.
when your down and out just a cheap little tent makes a great home.
being a bicyclist we stealth camp all the time, that's what bikers do.
so print out directions on how to do that.ake up servival kits for the homeless.
Good for you..I take care of the homeless when I can too...When I was in the big leagues a few years back..my wife and I would drive around Houston with a huge bag of food after every game and find/feed as many homeless as we could. Most of them were too strung out on drugs or drunk to know what I was trying to do. Many don't want any help.

what do you have when you have a 1000 c.e.o's at the bottom of the ocean.
not a bad start.

If it wern't for the higher ups in those company's with a dream and mission of building something huge...thousands and thousands of people under them would not have jobs..thats what you would have.

Re: i think this is sad

and they have a hire captain and staff to operate it while they relax.

I have a friend that wants to change careers, He is in the process of aquireing his captains license so he can deliver yachts to people by sea, it would be a very cool job.

I know the Ohio, Lower Mississippi, and Illinios rivers like the back of my hand, The ports, Locks etc... I used to see people(With money) taking cruises on the river(river runs) and always wanted to pilot the boats for them, I would love that myself, All they would have to do is relax and enjoy the cruise. That has been a dream of mine to pilot the boats and would do it in a drop of a hat, I would pilot towboats 1200' with 15barges all the time when the captain and pilots wanted to take a break or were sick, they would be in the wheel house with me ofcource, but those were the best times on the river for me, From PA. down to Louisana and back up and the Illinios river I would see the people who have money taking cruises all the time, I have talked to alot of the pilots on the yachts in the locks and always wanted to do that myself.

Re: i think this is sad

i guess i didn't make myself clear. what i meant by saying sad, was that all that mony spent to let the boat sit and rot at a marina

Wow..this thread will go away, I guarantee it...But while its here..

No you didnt make that clear and I think that is another issue not implied at all in your post.

What makes you think the vessel is rotting at the marina?

The people that can afford this class of vessels (I really dont dare call em boats..I own a boat..lol) surely will have maint plans with the marina, maybe even a live aboard crewman to care for the vessel.

It all goes in with the cost of owning and upkeeping a vessel of this stature.

And as a side bar..provides jobs and income for the marina employees..Putting $$ into the local economy.

There is another post on here of Bill Gates's yacht..I said it there and I'll say it here..
I cant hate a man for making his own fortune, thats what AMERICA is all about...

Anybody that thinks the "top 1% need to be hunted down and killed" well.....That's simply absurd....Who then will direct the reasearch & development of new products? Life saving medical equipment, pharmacuticals, the list can go on forever...All the way down to that bicycle your riding..lol
