Re: iboat flag

My parents would kill you for one. :D. They're in their 80's and you can't update them on some things. :)

Hard to believe only 34 calenders sold!
After all that work Don put into it that is a shame!

Glad i bought mine. I was looking at it yesterday proudly hanging over my work bench.

I can't believe only 34 sold either... heck, I bought 3 of them myself since my boat was in it.

I have a CSR Burgee (SeaRay board that I am a member of)

Reading too quickly I thought you said CRS burgee :D googled it and found it's the SeaRay club

While I think an Iboat burgee is a cool idea for some, I wouldn't buy one. Just something to get tangled up in the fishing lines and scare fish away.

Re: iboat flag

The calendar was beautiful. It was extremely fairly priced. There were 4 members' boats pictured on each month. 4x12=48. That means....NOT EVEN EVERYONE WHOSE BOATS WERE PICTURED BOUGHT ONE!!! So yeah, I can see why Don wouldn't bother again. Also, iboats management had zero interest in that project (the just told Don "knock yourself out") so I doubt they'll have any interest in this one.

I'm a relative newcomer so I wasn't aware of the calendars, but based on what's been said I can certainly understand the aversion to taking on another project. However, I will point out that unlike a calendar, an iboats flag wouldn't expire. Also, I'd buy one and I'd be happy to do any grunt work required to facilitate and/or expedite the process should the endeavor be undertaken. In fact, I'll even submit a potential design!

A 12 x 18 Burgee will cost roughly $17.00. I have a screen printer that would print them in 2 colors for $3.00 each, no set up fee on the screen. With mailings, I would imagine roughly $22 each.

My concern is that iBoats is a registered trademark and that they would have to OK using their logo on anything. In the event they OK'ed it, I would spearhead the flags and mailings. It would be a preorder thing before I shelled out any $$ to purchase the flags.

I would definitely buy one in that price range, even if you didn't use my design.;) What was the talk about stickers? Are there still iboats stickers available?

Go to cafepress.com and search iboats. You will find stickers, which I bought, mugs, t-shirts.. Hey, I wonder if they make flags?

Re: iboat flag

Wouldn't someone have to ask iboats permission to use their logo ???

I would think that its a registered trademark. ???

Of course it is, but there's no infringement issue if iboats sells or gives it to you. If one of us were to have them made on our own, without written permission from iboats, that would be infringement.

Re: iboat flag

One of the other forums I belong to allows it's members to form their own regional chapters and requires each chapter to create their own logo which we register as a subsidiary of the forum.

All of this is done by the members at their own expense. I am the historian for the west TN region of the Tennessee Powerstrokes and the Dixie Strikers. Check out powerstroke.org and see how they have set up their chapters. It may be a way for everyone to get flagged and happy.

BTW- Most manufacturers offer a burgee for their boats.
