Ideling problems

I have a 50 hp evinrude # E50TLCO that I got used from a friend. Just recently I starting having problems with my motor. It starts fine but after about a minute it idles down and shuts off. I'm not sure if I should take it to a shop or if this is something I should be able to do myself. It idles off, wether in gear or nuetral. I also noticed some oil leaking from the mid section. Does anyone know what the problem might be. Thanks in advance.

The oil leaking around the gearcase is likely carbon, an unburnt fuel/oil mix, but have a read here to determine.

It sounds like you are having a fuel delivery issue. Will pumping the fuel primer bulb keep it running? Spraying pre mix into the carb throats?

I pumped the prime bulb while it was running and it ran fine for about 2 mins then died out. I checked the gas filter and it full so it's getting gas from the tank, but it's still cutting out. I aslo noticed the water the comes out from the impeller was real weak it wasn't a solid stream like before?

check your compression and spark on both cylinders, if equal, over 100 psi, and spark jumps 1/2 inch. rebuild the carbs. see sticky at the top of this forum. i have a motor with the same set up, http://www.outboardbooks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=models.main&year=1985&ID=114098
