Last summer I put stringers in my 17' runabout hull. 7 ea, 10" high at center. Must second JasonJ in that this is a smelly, sticky job, that comes with a guarantee for backpain. If I were to do it again, i got this idea :

Why not fit the new stringers, remove them from boat again, glass them in with two layers of mat on your workbench ( no back pain ). Let it cure, surfacesand them, and glue them in boat, with two 4" bands of mat on each side and resin. Mat and resin bonds better to old resin than wood. Would save a lot of time and back pain for sure. Would it be ok, I' d like to get someone experienced´s oppinion.

Interesting idea, I can't see why it wouldn't work. I personally feel better having as few secondary bonds as possible. When you glass the stringers to the floor, you have the secondary bond to the hull only. With you perposal, the secondary bond would be on the hull as well as on the pre-glassed stringers. I feel you get maximum strength doing it the painfull way. I used a lot or resin, precoating to let the wood soak it in, and then glassed my layers while the precoat was wet, ensuring that the bond to the wood would extend into the wood and not just on the surface. That way, my only secondary bond was with the hull. Just ends up stronger, but you could do it your way, using epoxy. That would be plenty strong.
