OKAY back at my tub-is there a fuse in the ignition between the switch and the assist solenoid? I have power in and out of the ignition key switch "s" works fine-get 12v there when I turn the key-jumped it around the switch-nothing. I figured that it was the assist solenoid, so I went over to that, and jumped around the assist solenoid-cranked just fine, brought 12v off the battery to the switch terminal on the assist solenoid, and it cranked. It is simply the wire that is between the switch and the assist solenoid. before running a rogue wire outside of the harness, I want to see if there is an inline fuse between the switch and the assist solenoid. It is highly unusual for a wire in a loom to simply go bad so that is why I ask.

If you jumped around the slave solenoid and it cranks, doesn't that mean you have a bad slave solenoid? also the shift assist assy has no bearing on cranking.

Sorry, didnt meas shift assist, my brain fart. On the OMC schematic it shows #8 assist solenoid , which I think you are calling the slave solenoid. Simply put I activated the slave-assist solenoid and it worked fine. I get 12v out of the switch, so it is in the wire coming from the switch to the slave/assist solenoid. my question is if there is an inline fuse somewhere there?

wiggle the shifter

there is a safety neutral start switch in the shifter, only allows cranking in N
