You were correct until you replied with the magic words.
Yeah, unfortunately now, there's gonna be evidence when you edit your posts  Jeez really? What an interesting thread........

Anyway, Papa, lots has changed. Now the battery placement discussions only occupy a few posts, not 6pages.......

Papa, on thing that's changed is Jason isn't around much these days. I hope he's working on the Islander. But then again, maybe he's stocking up on donors.

Aw that's too bad. He really brightens the place up.

Well y'all feel free to pick on me instead. I'm prolly the only one on this forum who's moving more slowly on an Islander than Jason is.

Hey thanks! That's a lotta reading - I'm glad you think it was worth your time. And yeah I know what you mean about that video - it gets me going too!

Wait there's TWO videos! Did I post 'em both here? I don't remember and I sure as hell ain't gonna go back and read this whole thing to find out. So just in case, here it is again!

And for a progress accountability update....

Here's a really crappy picture of the first boards cut for seat boxes:
IMAG0630.jpg

I decided I'm not gonna buy seats. I'm gonna just build 'em right in. They won't be adjustable, but the captain's seat will fit my butt and that's good enough for me. Plus I'm gonna get some extra storage space out of the deal.

So what you're looking at in that crappy picture is confusing. Those two boards will be the front boards for both starboard and port side seat boxes. The rear boards will be tall enough to accomodate the seat backs, but I have some more mulling and sitting and staring to do to work out exact dimensions.

Depending on how efficient I can get with fuel hose placement, I'm hoping to get 6 to 8 vertical inches of space above the fuel tank and below my butt to put a drawer or something. I also have plans to make open-access storage for life jackets behind the seats, so they're super-easy to grab in an emergency.

Not sure if any of that makes sense without pictures....

Makes sense to me. PR. You putting tanks under both seats? I'm guessing your tanks have straight filler nubs.

Yup - both sides. Twin 17-gallon tanks in almost the same as factory locations (factory tanks were 18 gallons each). Only difference is I'm moving them back from the cabin walls so I can stand and drive too. Hope that doesn't screw up the front-to-back balance too much.

Nah. You won't notice anything. If you had a 12 footer but not in the big girl. :)

I did that too, B. But Papa came back and said it was the leftover after the seat base he was talking about.

I think he's hanging on to the beer. :watermelon:
