In this picture the old impeller is in the housing, not in horrible shape, on the side is the new impeller which burned up within minutes of running at the lake.
I have a 1991 Evinrude 30 hp ( 30REIC )
From what I can find online the fin direction seems to be correct, however what I noticed is that as the fins turn the catch on the metal edge around the impeller when turned this way.
On the impeller by itself, looking closely the fins closest to you are clearly cracked and pulled back as if snagging on that lip, also upon starting the motor before it burned every once in a while it felt as if the motor had a momentary snag, very light which I think was the impeller snagging and dragging.
Just wanting to check the correct direction before putting in a new one.
Thank you
