Re: Installing 2nd tilt/trim switch in transom
It can be done. I just finished this on my boat. I have a trophy that had an original force on it. I put an Evinrude and spliced the wiring harnesses together. To make a long story short, you need to get a three position momentary switch. Center with up and down momentary. You need to use the same power feed that the dash wire uses. Then it is just power in and out. The out power goes to the respective trim relays in the trim control box. (Under the motor hood)
Not impossible, not that hard, just figuring out what wires feeds the front control and splicing in to that wire is where the fun is.
I used a OMC trim switch off of ebay. It was pricy ($60) but It came with a nice plastic mounting plate and I will be able to replace the switch in time if it should fail with an off the shelf switch.
