installing kill switch

I am in the process of installing a kill switch. I was told to run a wire to each coil. I noticed that there is already one wire coming in to one coil. It seems to go down to the harness that continues to the relay interface box on my transom. What is the function of this wire? How if at all will it impact the installation of a kill switch? (see Pic)

Re: installing kill switch

That wire should not be going to the junction box. It goes to the center terminal on the vacuum cut-out switch.

For your kill switch, you will have to duplicate that wire on the other coil. Then run you new wire to one side of the kill switch. Connect the other side of the kill switch to the center terminal of the vacuum cut-out switch, along with the first wire already there.

Great idea! I will trace it better...
