Interchange Pre alpha 140 lower unit on a 165 upper?

I found this thread earlier on a search and it sounds like it worked for this poster, just double checking.

We have a pre alpha 165 with a cracked lower unit housing. I found a reasonably priced 140 pre alpha outdrive unit locally, and was wondering if I could just bolt up the 140 lower to my 165 upper.

I noticed in that thread that it says the drive gears are in the upper, so the lower housing is the same between the 140 and 165 lower units?

The gear ratio changes are in the upper. The 140 and 165 lowers are the same.
