Re: Interior Refinishing (Durabak didn't last long!)
230-Magnum.

Thanks for the response. I assume you purchased and received the UV resistant material? It's good to hear that it is holding up for you.

Ondarvr,

I think I decided against the gel-coat, and I'm going to go ahead and buy another gallon of the blue and re-coat the current faded stuff. Everything was good about it except the fading...and from what I've heard and discussed with the durabak folks, the UV resistant material will be fine. At $119.95 per gallon, it's pricey, but it will cost me the same in materials to gel coat the interior(sanding disks/gel coat/tape/etc.), not to mention the time it will take me to remove every last bit of the durabak.

For the durabak re-coat, simply scuff the old stuff with 40grit, and apply it...should be painless.

I may also change the floor from light grey to dark grey or even blue.

Hopefully it will hold up.

Will post pics once I get started of the progress.

The boat is already torn down. I will probably place my order tomorrow or monday, and go from there. My only delay will be the possible modification of the front deck. I'd like to add the two side storage boxes/seats you see on a lot of bluewaves and other center consoles.

I may also re-finish my console, using either paint (or I may try gelcoat). I'd like to eventually do the outside of the hull with gel-coat...but that's after I get the interior finished and the engine/rigging back in/on it.

Take care,
SQ
