Re: is it worth it?
First of all, I want to thank you all for help on this matter. Just an update---all that talk about selling my baby was just angry talk that I suppose most everyone would feel when something like this happens but when it really came down to it I couldnt bring myself to sell her. I purchased a brand new 2003 150 Ficht Ram Evinrude. It didnt "break the bank" (relatively speaking!) and I got a full 3 year warranty, after all when the motor ran it was a great motor and from all that I hear in these forums this ficht problem is pretty much a non-issue these days. I learned far more in a couple of hours of reading different topics about my motor from these forums than I learned in 5 years from my dealer which makes me wonder if I could have avoided this problem all together if I knew then what I know now. So, in short-- LOL--I am back on the water, my boat is smiling again, the muskies are once again leery of that funky looking multi-colored thing swimming by them that makes that wierd "bloop-bloop-bloop" noise and I am back to eating bologna sandwiches for lunch and macaroni and cheese with hotdogs for dinner!!! Note to Patrickh--I hope that you figure out what it is that you want to do with your "highly expensive paperweight". I myself look at it as a lesson well learned. I can use some of the parts off my "highly expensive paperweight" down the road should something go after the warranty is up and try to parts out the rest where I can to recoup some of the loss but I will hold faith in Bombardier that my new toy will not turn into a "highly expensive bookend" to the other. All the best on your decision.
