Firestar, you just won't quit will you?

"Then you have a segment of irresponsible useless trash out there having babies and expecting the rest of society to take care of them. Guess which political party they will be in."

Hmmm, how about those Bush girls? Very responsible, well taught young ladies. Which party do they belong, I have forgotten. No, the girls are not having babies, but I believe their father has required some help raising them.
Remember, all shapes, colors and sizes.

Again, not trying to start a new argument, yada, yada, yada.

But seriously, there are lots of very educated people who legally immigrate from everywhere in the world. Many countries complain about a brain drain going to America.

Yes! But they are not naturalizing the way they used to. They want the advanatages of America without the liability of a US citizenship.

Re: Is the USA being taken over?

You folks are confusing this with a political issue, when it is really a mathematical issue.

Why do you think the Catholic Church is so fired up about birth control? It is because to grow the church, (and of course, get more money) If you have Catholics having more babies than the population in general, they in turn will have more babies (exponetially more, assuming they too do not use birth control) and pretty soon, after not too many generations, they will dominate the population. If the premise is correct, and they produce Catholic children that also follow the laws of the church, they will in fact dominate the population.

Now most Catholics don't follow their own rules, so they are not a concern, but other ethnic populations may well follow the same sort of thing, and if they do, to a mathematical certainty they will come to dominate the population over time.

For the first time in 30 years, American women are having enough babies to keep the population constant.
That statement comes from an article in the February 13, 2002, issue of the newspaper USA Today, citing numbers from the National Center for Health Statistics, an agency of the US government.

PW2,

A little conspiracy, some stereotyping, add a dash of racism for good measure, and voila America is history . . . Oh, wait, I forgot it is OK to stereotype when you're talking about anything related to Christianity. Carry on.

I mention do-gooders as a generality, not pointing fingers. I mention breeders as a generality, not pointing fingers. I ask what political group they may prefer as a generality..........Interesting the defenses and attacks that arise. I guess that they just might not like what they know fills in the generalities with specifics.

Re: Is the USA being taken over?

tommays? If you are referring to my comments to PW2, my point was that he assumes there is a conspiracy to keep birth control taboo simply to build Catholic numbers. Maybe, but not sure how he knows . . . I don't dissagree that there are probably higher birth rates among Catholic homes. I just thought it was funny coming from a liberal who is not supposed to think that way . . .

When you say Spanish, do you mean Spanish speaking?

The difference in education levels from the different countries is pretty WILD from NONE to VERY GOOD

Now the second level nursing staff is almost all women from and island with a nice accent that the hospitals seem to be able to get and unlimited number of visas for on demand

My experience as well. I've done business in Colombia, Peru, Chile, Guatemala and Mexico. Spain too for that matter and I would say in many ways it is the least developed Western European Country.

My guess is that not many that have read that particular post will buy such non-sense for an explanation. We both know to whom or which group you refer. By the way, I filled in the "generalities" for you. That way you would have no need to guess my thoughts....and you still guessed. Very nice!

No defense, no attacks from my end. I simply pointed out your ill attempt at placing blame on one side of the political spectrum by showing some problems you describe with the side you so cherish. I gave you a very specific example of how you are wrong. Why can't you give me a specific example of how you are right?

When I said, "you just won't quit, will you?" Your response was "nope." My question was in reference to these rediculous, unfounded statements you keep pulling out. A bit of thought and you could have figured that out. Again, very nice.

I have formulated my opinions from personal, life experiences. You may find them rediculous and you're entitled. I may disagree with you and I am entitled. If what I have to say stirs something, positive or negitive in you fine. I would find it difficult to follow blindly what any person, agency or organization promotes. I have walked into many houses and delt with all types of people being a paramedic in Chicago. I have developed an opinion. Like it or not......I'm entitled to it and I know where mine came from. Where did yours?

Re: Is the USA being taken over?

OK folks, let us put our heads together and see if a light bulb appear. "Concentrate Daniel son".

First what is this "culture" thing anyway. To sum it up, it is our way of life. It is the things that we do unconsciously day to day as a group. From the food we eat to the clothe we wear, we are "IT". We are the "in crowd". At least in today's culture. Certainly, it is unique from the rest of the world. For one, we spend nearly 11 billion dollars annually in pornography. This what makes us special. In fact, it is only one of the many things that we do that make us different. Now if we turn the page backward to let say 100+ years ago, this was not the case. Pornography wasn't even a word. It was taboo. It was witch craft. It was everything but a part of the American culture.

Here's a rope. Grab on and don't let go. Failure to do so will result in culture shock. Culture is a fact of nature. A product of Evolution. It stops for no one. Not even the Illegal Immigrants we fear so much. My point is culture will reinvent itself ever so often. It did many times since the formation of this country at a time when Illegal immigrants of Mexican national was non existence or any "illegal" immigrants for that matter.

I am not surprised while most of us are happy with our present culture, we fear what may lies ahead. Is this the same feeling our Great Grand Parents had when they were alive? I say we give up our TV, microwave dinner, and don't forget porn for the old way of life. Hunting and Gathering that is. Come on people, put on your cow hives and get your spears. Live buffalo is for dinner. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder or in this case, culture can only be judged in the present not the future.

If you let it, fear of the unknown will rot you from within. A little understanding will set you straight. So no worries.Get that boat ready. Summer is only 10 months away. I'll see on the lake, river, ocean, stream or what ever body of water you float on. Until then keep your feet on the ground 8)

That makes good sense GQ.

He was talking of cultures other than "American."............It's a culture discussion....
CJY,strange that the program didn't take into account that many immigrants have very good American values. And as QC points out the next generation should have the benefit of domestic language and education.
As far as differences in culture, pressure cooked goat isn't bad at all.

Re: Is the USA being taken over?

In the past the mass immigrations have been controlled and who came in and there general health and other things were looked at THAT’S NOT HAPPENING NOW

A of the culture change is nice I have never seen a group of people who go out of there way to help each other more 

BUT having been in the trenches since 1975 working in places that employ a lot of low end people I also see a darker side

Sure I have seen some families come here and send the first generation to collage BUT they were the well educated ones in the first place

The far more common way is one parent comes here to send money home. After a few years they get lonely and a whole lot of them end up with a second family HERE 

The real problem here is that whole communities are going NON-ENGLSH instead of little Havana we have little El Salvador

This really makes it a nightmare for the public education system parent teacher conferences now require a translator
