You can look up diagrams on marine engine .com
If they are the same unit then yes you can.
Id do that myself, you can also check the gears when its apart in case its had a hard knock and one or two need replacing

Not sure why it would take a year to find.-----------You can swap the entire contents to the good looking gearcase.--No shimming required at all.--------Might want to install a seal kit.------Test operation of the unit before taking it apart.-----It can be tested on the work bench.

I am a carpenter not a mach, but do you think this is something I should be able to do someone that has all the tools but not know how could do this. I was thinking the diagram would maybe show me the steps, am I crazy, there is really no reliable boat people here in this town

every bolt that is seeable including the allen bolt in the side is out the top 8 bolts the 4 bolts behind inside the prop area are all out and the verticle shaft and the prop shaft is not budging are they stuck because of shattered gears and I need to just hit on it?

There is a nut on the bottom of the vertical shaft.-----It will not come out untill you get inside the unit and take that off.----------Put your hammer far away as you will only do big $$$$ damage.

The vertical shaft has a nut on the bottom.-----You need to pull the propshaft bearing housing out first. ---Then you can work your way in to get at that nut !

Re: is there something to follow

No you have to remove the bearing housing it may have 5/16-NC threads in it that can be used to pull the bearing housing out.----The propshaft is not the first item that comes out !!!

Re: is there something to follow

is there a way to attach a pic onto the form or does that have to be done seperatly its my belief that the pics in the manual are not the same as I have in my hand because I could not find the exact model number mine had a S behind the numbers. I took the 4 screws out inside the housing there are no more screws to remove the housing. maybe mine is different and that is causing the frustration. Im sorry for taking so much of your time. I have all the manuals from both site with the pictures and they do not look like my housing
