Is this a clever prank or just vandalism?

For the last few years I have been developing an overwhelming urge to go into neighborhoods late at night, gather all the raindeer from all the yards on a street, and place them together in one magnificent raindeer herd on one lawn. I've pretty much decided against any reproductive poses.

Anyone seen or heard of this being done before? This could be my contribution to Christmas traditions.

Re: Is this a clever prank or just vandalism?

There was a local news story recently where person or persons unknown collected assorted outdoor adornments and assembled the menagerie on somebody's lawn on a foggy night. They went so far as to connect all of the lit pieces together, but alas the outdoor receptacle was switched off from inside and they did not light, I'm sure to the dismay of the perpetrators. The homeowner awoke to find his yard blessed with these many decorations, scratched his head in perplexed wonderment, and called the local constabulary. The police collected the items and let it be known far and wide that the wayward items could be picked up at the station and if anybody wished to lodge a complaint, they would follow through. Otherwise they would not pursue the matter. To my knowledge, nobody filed a complaint. :)

Then there was the tale of the infamous Frosty murders just this week. Somebody has one of those fan-inflated lit Frosty snowmen and on occasion would wake to a sad deflated Frosty. Some vile evildoers would stab the poor snowman til he could no longer hold air. The owner patched it and Frosty came back to life only to be killed again and again. So the homeowner posted a video camera and caught the villains on video tape. The vandals were aprehended and charges are pending. Teens expressing their social anxieties by acting out in a vandalous manner, no. These are adults. Or so their idientifications claim.

Be careful.
You could end up on the "group W" bench.

I would like to see the 27 color glossy pictures with letters and arrows, and a paragraph on the back explaining....

here's a coincidence for ya, willy...I just walked out my front door with my cellphone and snapped this photo of the yard across the street - hope it's clear enough to see the subject...

Christmas decorations ought to be fair game a couple days after Christmas right?

You could do some of Calvin+Hobbes snowman poses like a reindeer laying dead behind a car in the driveway and a bunch of others gathered around mourning etc.

Assuming you're serious, I think it would be way cool jtex, but I fear some of the "victims" would call it vandalism. A couple of years ago a teen was shot and killed near here for messing with some guy's Halloween decorations . . . :% Sorry to throw a wet blanket, but some people's sense of humor is well . . . they don't have one.

I think it would be a cool prank if you kept them all in the same neighborhood so they could be easily retrieved by the "victims". However, I don't think everyone would have the same sense of humor.

Last night driving thru our neighborhood I was thinking the same thing. Or, putting some arrows thru the poor little reindeer, then laying them on their sides ...

There sure are a bunch of them out there this year!

Hmmmm....... I suspect this would have a "Budwiser Factor" involved!

I can hear it now...... "slow down ..... there are some over there..... here hold my beer and watch this....."

When I was a teenager our favorite thing was to just turn the lawn display's around. Have the plastic Santa turned so his back faced the road and change the entire direction of the reindeer and sleigh..... our thought processs never advanced to picking one yard to store all of them.

I like it!

My brother and I did that a long, long time ago, only not Christmas. We took all the flamingos from two RV parks and put them in front of one's empty gaurd house at the gate. It made the papers. :)

I love the one about the gardengnome.....was missing one day. The owner got postcards from all over the world the next 3 years with greetings from his gnome. And suddenly he was back...with a nice tan. Never was solved.

The most popular prank around here has to do with christmas trees. One night, kids will gather hundreds of them and dump them all in the front yard of one house

I would do it with all the neighbors you know.... leave a know telling them where their reindeer has run off to be others like him....with an address. They can get their stuff back, everyone can get a good laugh....

And since it's all people you know.... Make sure you take YOUR reindeer over there and add it to the pile and give yourself the same note.

...At my brother's house for the family party this year, I walk outside to put the lightup reindeer in the usuall mating pose.... Just to find out my newphew had already been out there..... He hung 2 Blue christmas ornaments under the buck, covered them with lights and pluged them in. So I left it be :)

I like Noel's idea. I can see people actually looking forward to it then too. Cool.
