So as i explained in an earlier post, http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=394237
i opened a can of worms when attempting what i thought would be a minor tune up. i noticed air escaping from the crank case seam. figuring this seal leaking was the issue i finally tore into the motor today. the original motor paint was over some of the squeezed out seal glue so this seems to be the original seal from 1976.
the reed valve assembly looks great, everything else seemed to be pretty clean and looked good. there was some carbon buildup on the top piston rod.
i was surprised to see almost zero sign of the glue seal on the 2 halves of the crankcase. not sure if thats normal or not. either way it needed to be resealed.
ive going to order some new gaskets for the intake, i already have a new bag of points/condensers, going to get some spark plugs. hoping that all gets it happy again, i miss my lil fishing boat!
