I have it laying flat on the floor with plywood pieces on it. We'll see how it looks tomorrow but it'll probably be going back :-(

That's horse puckey. You'll never get that to look right and that's no doubt the goal here. This will push back your timeline but I think you are way better to send it back and start over.

In the mean time you could paint the bottom of your boat if yur bored:playful::fear:

not sure what your hurry is; trust me your boat will run fine without it while you wait for it to flatten or if you send it back and replace.

in fact you may realize that you don't need it at all, and don't want it. I'd never put carpet in an open boat regardless.

A couple more tricks: hang it and let its weight flatten it--even hang weights on the bottom.

Or use the travelling salesman's ironing board: lay it between the mattress and box spring. Might even trick the wife into helping you accelerate the flattening.

Re: Issues with boat carpet I got, What would you do?

i just ordered the same thing (and have ordered previously for another boat) and I agree that they should ship in a roll like they do their vinyl - not sure why they don't but I had the same concerns and a day in the house and then a couple hours outside when I was cutting to size (i did snap in) all was well.

Veada has great customer service - I can't post his email response to me (it has that confidentiality disclaimer on it) but essentially in 24 hours it will be fine.

Good news, got a good response from Veada:

I looked at your pictures this morning and I agree that the carpet is very wrinkled. I cannot say for sure if yours was packaged extra tight causing those wrinkles or not, but either way I am sure that it was not what you expected to receive and I cannot tell you for sure if the wrinkles will come out. Veada prides itself on customer service and selling quality products that match or exceed the expectations of our customers. I apologize that so far this has not been the case for your order. We are happy to send you out a new 3 yards of rolled carpet today and will include your 5 offset hinges with that as well. As far as the incorrect flat hinges that we sent you, it ends up being more cost effective to just let the mistake be; you are welcome to keep those hinges and use them however you like.

Again I am very sorry for the mistake. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email us.
Have a wonderful weekend Jeremy.

I am very pleased with the quality of the carpet so I was hoping I'd be able to use that product. I still have to seal my new deck wood so if they ship fairly quickly I shouldn't be held up TOO badly.

Boat is going out to our seasonal campsite at Lake Raystown and staying there for the season. I need to get everything I want done to it completed before taking it out there because I'm not working on it there.

I'm a big fan of marine vinyl and that's what my deck is. I do like the carpet in the bow where people sit and the kids play etc.

Thanks again for your feedback!
All carpet 4 yds and larger are rolled in as a standard roll. Carpet yardage of 3 yds and under have been shipped in a box for the last several years, having understood wrinkles were present upon unpackaging but recovered quickly upon opening. The drive for shipping small yardage in a boxed for was for customer savings on shipping costs. Pushing for customer value and economics, Veada also pushes for customer satisfaction. All carpet will now be shipped in rolled form, regardless of length. We appreciate the feedback!

As always, we're more than happy to help with any questions or issues down the road!

Do I get the keys to "check on it" while you are gone (boat AND camper)?:)

Sorry EZ that isn't going to lay flat ever. Send it back your boat is way to nice for substandard materials.

^^^ Sadly he is right. I deal with multiple brands of marine grade carpet and if they get big creases like that it never truly comes out. Send it back and find someone else.

Good Luck with that EZ.

EDIT: Didn't make it to the post with Veada's response. Good deal :D

Could try getting a cardboard tube and roll it up, straightening as you go. Add time:mad: and a heat source. I'd be really upset. Oops: Late to the party.

Yea unless they want it back I would try to roll it up and see if the summer heat will get it back to flat. Glad they stand up behind their products, that's how it should be IMO.

They shipped it quick. I'm supposed to have everything tomorrow.

Unfortunately the temperatures have not lended themselves well to spar varnishing so I won't be able to get the new carpet installed right away. All my wood is cut and ready to be sealed though.
