So.... Background, none whatsoever with boats. I bought a Lake house thus this story begins.. Im car hobbyist, my dad is a x- car dirt track racer/mechanic which is where most my experience and training comes from.. We restore classic car in our spare time together. Now apparently we are hitting the learning curve with boats... Boat is a 97 larson bowrider 4.3 gl with cobra sx outdrive. Motor rebuild running great, and everything back together. Then Murphy's law kicks in right when i want to put this thing in water....... The trim was shady before aka worked when it wanted to.. now I get no trim at all up or down... I checked the wires going into the hydraulics some test hot, others test hot when pushing the up trim button and another one is hot pushing the down trim button. This tells me my switch is working correctly? Now where the hick do i go from here to trouble shoot? Oh, also I learned a valuable lesson dont loosen the red button on the hydraulics that has the upside down yellow yield sign with a exclamation point on it. You will get a hydraulic fluid head shot. :(
Any trouble shooting help would be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... I ain't so much a Volvo guy, so I donno exactly what yer lookin' at,... But,.....

The Hyd. pump, has a motor, pump, 'n switchin' wirin' to reverse the direction of the electric motor, reversin' the hyd. oil flows,.....
The actual Motor, should have 3 wires goin' into it,....
A Black, which is ground,...
A Green, which is down, think green grass,....
'n a Blue, which is up, think sky blue,...

Jumperin' directly to the Green, or Blue should cause the motor to run, 'n hyd's to move,.....

Merc uses solenoids/ relays to switch power,...
I've heard Volvo uses relays,...

Either way, Hopefully with this short discripition, you can figure out what's, What,....

I doubt this will help at all but with my boat I've had an issue twice where I put my trim all the way down and then I try to put it up... Nothing and then the other was having it all the way up and not going down.... I have a 5.7l Volvo penta 2001 Larson 234 escape and I what I do to fix this is there was this these two black fux box looking things to the right of my engine and I just unplugged them and switched them, and it worked fine, what causes my problem I have no clue

Found my problem bad ground or should I say no ground at the circuit thingy. My dumb butt missed reconnecting that ground. Probably tracing and checking some of the other issues I had I move the ground away from a resting place that had it temporarily grounded. I grounded properly to a intake bolt and presto all fixed. Thaxs all for the advice. Now plz move over to my new post of over heating issue.... Lol

Research more.on forum, did not start a new post about over heating. It was my fresh water pump. It didn't have any blades left on it. Replaced it. Seemed to solve the problem. I bet that's what blew the motor on the previous owner..... Maiden voyage #2 search for more gremlins coming up on Thursday.
