Re: Slow connection chat?

If you can access that Chatzy site Chincoteaguer than I'm sure you can join in.

Off topic but have you looked into http://www.hughesnet.com/ ? They just made an offer to a friend of mine (in a similar circumstances as you regarding internet) an offer he couldn't refuse. He's pleased with the product.

Yea. I've been seeing a lot of Hughesnet lately. It all comes down to satelite access (I think) and I do not have a "line of site" and can't cut trees because of the Preservation Act on the Chesapeake Bay. My daughter and her husband are bringing their Ipad during Christmas and they think it might work. Don't know if Ipad will allow Chat kinds of stuff. Thanks for the suggestion.

My friend lives in the woods so you must not have to have TOO much wide open space for it to work.

If the ipad can bring up a web browser, I'm sure it can use the Chatzy site. You might not like typing on it much.

If you look at my place from Google Earth the house is not visible unless all the leaves are down and even then you have to zoom in very close. DirectTV has suggested installing a large pole but the wife ain't buying it. Some imaginative friends have suggested floating a barge in the creek behind our house and putting a dish on it. Oh well, I guess I can live without high speed internet. Thanks for the feedback ezmobee.

My folks live in rural northern Michigan in a forest and they had to erect a 75' tower to get their sat internet receiver over the trees. The thing about it is that it needs to be higher than the tallest tree in the area, and we have some bald eagles around that love those tall ones:D

They put their sat tv dish on a smaller tower also, otherwise no signal.

While you're at it you could make the tower stout enough to hold a small wind turbine:)
