I thought with the boating season for many of us soon winding down, plus the multitude of great new SC members we have now, it's time to get the nightly chat going again. Thanks to coolbikeguy (scott) who originally found the site Chatzy which I think serves our needs better than MSN did the first time we tried it. I created a new "room" on Chatzy as our old one had expired. It's located here:

http://www.chatzy.com/732986786222

There's no password or anything needed. Just create a username and sign in. I think it would be helpful (cuz I'm easily confused) if you made your username your iboats ID + your boat model + your real first name. I'd be "ezmobee 18 SS Jeremy" If you run out of room, abbreviate.

One issue we had the last time was that people would come into the room at all different times and everyone would just miss each other. I think we should have a nightly time when everyone interested in chatting would sign in. Say 8:00 or 9:00. As all the posts stay in the room, you could even sign in at that time just to say you're busy at the moment but plan to check back at 10:00 and anyone else signing in would see that and could decide to catch up with you later. Thoughts?

I'm in the room right now and let's say the nightly meeting time will be 9:00 for the time being. We can make it earlier if that's better for everyone. I look forward to chatting with you all.

Are there specific nights or times when you guys are on the chat? Just curious as I would not mind dropping in and saying hello if I can.

"coolbikeguy 18 SS Scott" would be lovely. Everyone, (except North Beach who is too cool for school) :p:p has been complying with my requested naming convention and I think it's been helpful.

Scott, if you don't actually "log in" to Chatzy, it shouldn't remember your old stuff or even know who your are. So you can sign into the new room as whatever you want.

Re: It's back! Starcraft chat

I will be checking in on the chat again. I hope we can get Rick to drop in once in a while too.

Last fall I blamed my slow progress on my restoration on account of sitting around chatting about the best ways to do things(when I should have been working in the garage:D).

It's nice to be able to get some quick advice in chat when you are in the middle of something:)

Gentlemen. i have no say so, and as far as I am concerned EZ started this so its his game. Let me say this, no typeing races, no concerns when it comes to proper spelling. C'mon guys...its just us. We try to be nice and just talk..thats it. Don't make it something its not. Pretend we are all sitting around a campfire, some guys drink, some don't, thats cool. We are just enjoying each other company and advice/ and dreams about their boats...nothing else. Isn't life hard enough without us trying to put limitations on ourselves concerning something we enjoy? 'Sorry about the rant. Talk to Y'all tonight. BTW thanks EZ

Re: It's back! Starcraft chat

I've been noticing a lot of us missing each other on chat. I have two suggestions: the first is the easiest....everyone sign is as close to 9:00 as they can. The second would be, if you plan to be on a certain time, pop in a through up a message that says "I'll be on here at 10:15PM" or something like that. I know if I saw that I'd make an effort to sign on then and say hi. I hope to see more of you in the future. It's a long boring winter for some of us!!

Re:Slow connection chat?

Chat room sounds great but cable company will not run line to our farm, telephone won't offer DSL, do not have a line of site for satelite (Chesapeake environmental acts won't let me cut trees), and the Wi Fi moble stuff is so unreliable it is useless. That being said I have used Chat for communications with vendors but it is very slow. Will that cause problems for your group?

Re: Slow connection chat?

If you can access that Chatzy site Chincoteaguer than I'm sure you can join in.

Off topic but have you looked into http://www.hughesnet.com/ ? They just made an offer to a friend of mine (in a similar circumstances as you regarding internet) an offer he couldn't refuse. He's pleased with the product.
