Bondo you can setup a simple Windows based peer-to-peer (p2p) connection between the two computers. This will allow you to move the files across a line without the need for a router or any disks. When you are done, just disable it.

way577 it is a HP 2400+ 2.0 GHZ 512 MB SDRAM, 60 GB HARD DRIVE, 32 MB DDR SDRAM and a bunch of other numbers.. The first test came back and stated "download less than 1 second, try again with higher load". The ISP just completed speeding up their service so that also helps.

A simple cross-over Cat5 network cable between the 2 computers will allow you to transfer files back and forth with ease.....with WinXp it's easy.

RetNav, ? Is that your download speed, or the entire diagnostic test score? Mine RED FLAGGED my security settings. Said things weren't enabled, but in fact, they are.??? Mattt... what did it give you for a download speed? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Edit: My 2 year old 1.533Ghz AMD processor system. My second round of testing went something like this. Download speeds were between 2500 and 2750 Kb/s on 5 tests. I got checkered flags on all tests. Only item that was out of range was the ping, at 932ms, which isn't to bad for a satellite connection. The only recomendation was to upgrade from WinME to XP. Overall score of 822. Could you guys please tell me if you are posting your download speed, or your overall test score?

Hey bondo. Without a floppy? Cant you just zip the files and send an email to yourself with an attachment. Then open the attachment on your new computer. Floppys only hold 1.44 Megs. Cant take to long even with dial up to send the file. The cable modem should download that size file in about 5 seconds.

Hi Strange, have just done the test and only scored 1712 (total score). P4 3.0 gig hyperthreading processor. Award winning Abit IC7-G mobo. 1 gig DDR400 matched Kingston RAM. 40 gig WD O/S Drive, 180 gig WD data drive ATA. W2000 O/S and a slooow 64kb ISDN connection. RetNav, how do you get 3240 on your rig? Hey guys, I don't know why or how it scored that, maybe I am reading the wrong thing...don't know, haven't seen any red flags. But if you put what I know about computers inside a mustard seed it would rattle around like a tadpole in the ocean, so I am probably doing something wrong. Boomyal, I Agree... I'm looking at an All in One drive..... Floppies, GPS chips, camera chips, etc.... I don't have the camera yet, But am looking.... Xcusme, Good Idea... Even cabling between the 2, I think it's Still Over My Head.... eurolarva, Great Idea..... I also thought of this.... The floppies I loaded yesterday were corrupt, she couldn't email them, or even view them... I forgot to Make Sure they loaded propperly.... I'm going to unhook this 'puter,+ relight the old one,+ export the Info to my web based email, Then Switch 'puters,+ Try to retrieve them to the New box..... Boomyal, I Thought I did This post,+ emailed it to you last night.... But, I find No evidence of that this morning... Doing so many things at once, I must have lost it, Instead of sending it.... Test just over 900. Know squat about computers but it says checkered flags in all but memory, 256 says I can add 256 more for 40 bucks do I need it?
