Did anyone saw him in Tropical Thunder? I never thought that he could be that funny.

You mean Cruise or Hitler? I never saw Tropical Thunder.

Surely you've seen those commercials, where he says "We've got to kill Hitler." Makes me laugh out loud every time. If the rest of the movie is that funny, they could have a cult classic on their hands.

The guy's ability to portray a character has nothing to do with his air-headed politics.

His character, Von Stauffenberg (sp?), was a real person and no liberal.

Re: It's the Pirate Tom Cruise!

ive watched a show on the history channel about the events of the movie a few years ago and I'm excited about it coming out. Theres alot of back story to this with the White Rose resistance starting at the University of Munich by passing out leaflets opposing the germans.

Re: It's the Pirate Tom Cruise!

I was about to post something witty in regards to financially supporting someone based on their political views, but then I realized that this is Tom Cruise here,

Then I realized that the money he makes goes in part to the church of scientology,

and now I have realized that you can't talk about Tom Cruise without turning the thread political.

(That was me thinking out loud. I guess I need to replace the filter between my brain and my fingers. )

Tom Cruise the Actor is great but Tom Cruise the person is a moron. Keep in mind he was illiterate at the age of 24 im not making fun of people with learning disabilities but when you state that depression doesnt exist and that your an expert on psychology but couldnt read at 24 raises an eyebrow or two. I also think that he fits the mold for a scientologist and ill leave it at that.;)

Scientology is religion, not politics.

We don't discuss religion here, either.

Idiot, semi brain dead or whatever. The guy can act. Acting is what he gets paid for. My wimmin say he is also awfully pretty.

If I boycotted every actor I disagreed with on something I would be stuck with The Duke, Heston, and very few others.

You know, I don't get the whole Tom Cruise/ Scientiology thing. It's his religion, so what? He's very proud of it and very vocal about it, good for him.

What if the guy had the same religion as you, would you like him better?

While I do not go to the theaters to see any movies, I do enjoy watching his films at home. This looks like a good movie, kind of like the Last Samuri. I'll wait until this movie comes out on DVD and then rent it.

Brian,
Since I brought up the Scientology thing let me reply. I was thinking about an earlier post that commented on not wanting to give Tom money by watching his films. I was going to comment that he was so rich that I doubt it will affect his life much if his new films are hits. Then I remembered reading about how he donates alot of money to his church.

In order to respect the rules on this site concerning political or religious debates I have made sure not to mention any opinion on Scientology or say anything that is debatable concerning it.

Moderators...
If my merely mentioning the word Scientology is enough to constitute a religious discussion please reprimand me here publicly for it so others who read this post will know not to do it themselves

The way I see it you and I are not crossing the religious boundaries because we are not bashing a religion. Nor are not preaching one of our own or even someone elses, we are merely stating that this is what this guys preference is. I believe that everyone has a rite to their own religious and political beliefs.

Like you, if I'm not supposed to do these things here, let me know(moderator). But, if people are offended by naming a religion, they have worse problems in life.

I remember reading somewhere that he is the richest actor in the world. Is he worth 60 million a movie? No. No one is in my opinion.

Naming it and discussing it are not the same thing. What is not allowed is offering opinions and ignorance to be disputed by other opinions and ignorance.

Re: It's the Pirate Tom Cruise!

I do think that if we choose to post on this site than we have to obey the rules set forth.

No one forces anyone to play the game, but if you play, play by the rules.

Now that being said, hypothetically, if for example ones belief doesn't jive with your own, than one doesn't have to support the others view.

You can vote with your feet, or wallet.

You can pass on the movie theater playing his movie and go see another.

That hurts the most to these guys, you took money out of their pockets.

And corporations that support something you don't , vote with your feet don't go in there, don't spend your money there.
