Nice boat and post. I read an article stating that the record jumping GT 150 had to hit 65 to make the jump. If you look closely at the pic you can see they used a chopper or over the hub prop. The boat actually used a 115 cowling on the one that J. W. Pepper shot.
I have a suggestion. You might find a late 80's to mid 90's cross-charged V4 from 88/90/110/112/115 hp. You can use the old "rudes" cowl and may have to paint the mid section. This would give you a newer motor for reliablity and it would be prop rated so a 110/112/115 would probably outrun the old 135.
