Johnson 30HP water hose question

Still tweaking this motor,

I have a T fitting on the hose that leads to the water indicator pee hole. The hose that comes off the bottom of the T went nowhere but sprayed water so I capped it off.

I don't know what this hose was for. I suspect a PO rigged it for some reason.



If this is original where should it attach?

Could have been for a water pressure gauge.

Sure, could have been. But has that T been there from new is what I'm wondering.

I never heard of the factory installing that T in the line from new.

Alright then.

I'll just replace that hose with 1 piece from motor to peehole.

I have a suspicion that the PO was a fisherman & installed it to lead to a warm water sink. We see that a lot here in the Pacific NW where steelhead fishermen plumb it into a small sink on the transom. They will then put a shut-off valve at the tank. They use it to warm cold hands & wash off gunk from salmon roe bait.

Sounds logical. By the way, anyone with a 30HP johnson that wants to post a pic of how the water hose is routed would help as I'm pretty sure it didn't go between the spark plugs.

Actually, mine is routed the same way. Take a look at about 0:34...
