Hi all, anybody else had the joy of replacing the impeller on the newer Mercuriser inboards that use the little tire pump for the water drain?

I have done about four of them now and must say I have not been able to find any short cuts. It is a very slow and frustrating job. The fuel lines run through the rear half of the pump assm and the air lines are very hard to get to. This prevents removing the whole pump for service out of the boat. Instead I have had to split the pump in half while it is still mounted to the engine. The back bolts are very hard to access and very hard to re install after replacing the impeller.

To top things off I have had some fail inside of the 300 hour service.

Anybody else been enjoying this? What were the engineers at Mercruiser thinking?

Anybody figured out how to remove and re route the fuel lines and air lines so the whole pump can be removed? I would look into this more but so far all the ones I have worked on have been v-drives and there is not enough room to remove the whole pump. Maybe on the inboard?

Thanks for letting me vent, Dale
