As for the boat/motor/improvements....

Forget the gas tank, not worth the money or hassle to make it legal if you plan on making it in an enclosed area.

Is your boat an open style boat, or does it have a full windshield?

Open bow or closed?

Tiller motor or steering wheel?

Does it have a US Coastguard rating plate that states the maximum hp allowed?

With the info posted so far, I would spend the money on a decent comfortable PFD, registration,
insurance, gas, cooler with hinged lid for pop and snacks, wireless headphones for your ipod/mp3 player.

Oh yeah, since you are from the area, a couple of paddles (see my signature below). LOL

Haha thanks and it is open bow and has a steering wheel. I can get a new Force 40hp engine right now off of craigslist

New in the crate? warranty?

Force motors ceased production in 1999, and most dealers/repair shops won't touch them.

Suggest you stick with a Merc, Evinrude, Johnson, Tohatsu.

I'm not sure exactly what you are working with--do you have an existing boat and grandma gave you $500 for upgrades? Or is she letting you pick out a boat (range of price?) and you have $500 of your own? And where are you and where do you boat (lake, beach, ocean, etc.)

Anyway, forget the toys, like stereo's, until you have the boat running, equipped with essentials including safety equipment, insured and annual expenses covered. Rigging a boat is expensive. Shop used.

In your post # 20 you say your in 8th grade. This would make you 19 years old with a 4.3 GPA in a class that passed you by 4 years ago. With your spelling and puncuation on here along with your math skills [ Algebra 2?] are you sure its not a .43 ? Not many High schools offering 4 languages anymore.French,Spanish and maybe Latin, at a few select schools. Or are you learning while you sleep?

Great job on your GPA! Welcome to Iboats!
Now as far as your boat,get some toys for it and run it as is for a while....I first picked up a 14' trihull with a 55 on it and thought,Hey this is great!
Well that lasted 1/2 the boating season.... I am currently restoring a 21' Four Winns 210 Horizon because the other boat was way to small. Enjoy the boat you have and see how it fits your needs. Good Luck with your new ride

They are based on a 4.0 scale but with me missing the cut off date i am only in 8th and will all my high school credit classes it gives me a 4.3GPA. I have all advanced classes and right now have 5 college gredits already. i am in in 8th grade and taking algebra2 and biology and already learing 4different languages.

I guess today's class grading has changed, but it's better than giving everyone a trophy for participating, right? Around here a 4.3 means you are getting a V6! Not bad!

At what point did i say I had a 4.3 GP ,was in advance class's , Algebra 2 and learning 4 langauges? I am glad he has a boat , the rest has me wondering.You do the math on when he was 11, Gramps passed and now he is 8th grade.I have a great life and do not regret one day of it. Yes I did spell PUNCTUATION wrong but unlike you I did not correct somone with the incorrect spelling of said word in bold capitol letters.I also do not call people names as some do.
