Radios are hard to hear underway but make fishing a pleasure.

OMG, that's pure heresy. My Grampa is up there hollering at you now....smile.

I was taught at a very early age that the bottom of the boat has to be painted green, and you have to be quiet when fishing. Don't want to scare them rascals away now do you?

What's most important is that she can cook and is willing to clean fish. If SHE owns a boat, nothing else matters.

Of course as you have heard here, Be SAFE, Be sure you have enough PFD's for Everyone. Its all about FUN, but Safety is of the Utmost, it not like you can just pull over when you have problems. Thank your Grammy Bunches, She needs to know always how much you appreciale your new found Joy. Don't let your "Friends" , and you will probably aquire a many more now that you have a new "Toy". Prob some you hadn't heard from in years. Make you do things you wouldn't ordianarily do. DO NOT, let anyone pilot your boat other than YOU. DO NOT, let ANYONE, hook up your battery, Other Than YOU!Do NOT, let anyone "MIX" your fuel, Other than YOU! All of these things must be done by YOU and YOU, ONLY!!
Get a Good Marine Aproved Fire Extinguisher!!. Learn how to use it. Keep it easily accessable. Check your trailer tires often, keep a "spare" tire, and keep it up to the proper presure. A spare tire is good only if it's inflated and NOT dry rotted from non use. Be sure your wheel bearings are, "Lubricated" properly, with the correct grease, and not to mention the, Lights, be sure about the lights work properly long before you hook up to a car.. Well, As you can see, it's not all about FUN, it takes work,, and knowledge.. It's ALL about being SAFE.. There are probaby others here that will inform you about safety. Take all of their advice. Have FUN, ,, Hope to see you on the Waterways.

Throw a little of that extra money at a real boat mechanic. Ask the local boaters; they'll know who to take your boat to. Have 'em look it over and do whatever preventative maintenance is appropriate. That'll keep you on the water longer with less money spent on repairs and less down time. You don't want to waste any boating days due to a broken down boat; that's no fun.

Congrats on the good grades, and having sense enough to have a GREAT grandma!
